Hunger pains
I'm almost three months out and I have found that I need to sit and eat for much longer than I used to. Last night we had chicken for dinner, and I ate the whole serving (one chicken thigh, three ounces of meat) over about 35 minutes. I didn't get hungry again all evening. I had been stopping as soon as I started to feel full - which last night would have been less than one oz of chicken - and then getting hungry again within an hour. I usually do eat three meals and two snacks - snacks are cheese or salami - and the days I work and can't sit for forty minutes to eat lunch, I have a shake for either lunch or snack to keep my protein up. I am not eating any veggies yet (which has been challenging to explain to my kid, since she still has to eat hers).
at 9+ years post op - I still don't eat bread, and if I eat carbs - never for breakfast. If i eat carbs early in the morning - I feel like I am starving all day.
I eat carbs like veggies, some fruits and carbs in nuts. I try very hard not to eat grains, or potatoes, rice, etc...
The only time I chose to eat starchy carbs (grains, potatoes, etc) is when I get sick and I lose too much weight. I still can't eat enough just proteins and fats to gain weight. I have to eat carbs to gain.

When I had an ulcer-there were very definite hunger pains-not just pangs. It was a terrible, deep, intense, gnawing hunger pain. I felt hunger, and it hurt like a S.O.B.

Actually a few days ago, I googled symptoms for an ulcer because I became paranoid that it may be the culprit but besides the hunger i haven't experienced the heartburn like symptoms or anything or no pain in my chest so I thought oh maybe that's not it! Did you just experience hunger pains or did you experience other symptoms? I should go to the doctor just to rule it out to be on the safe side!
Get a blood sugar monitor and chec your blood sugar every when you get up and every 30 min for 4-5 hours ...
you could be having hypoglycemic reactions in minature. swings of 40-50 will produce side effects even if they are within norml limits, IF they are sudden.
My sugar can bottom within minutes of eating, because i am limiting my carbs so tightly. You will have a good idea if it is blood sugar related by doing this one time.
