takCris, maybe this will help (bottom of post

-- it's similar to an infographic my program shared on all the things that can be improved by the surgery you have had. It's good that you are getting support from the appropriate professionals and I think Writergurl is correct that if you keep looking for information that makes you worried, you'll keep finding it.

Maybe it's time for your to focus on your actual experience vs worrying about someone else's experience; focus on the benefits that you may be receiving going from 40 to 29 BMI, such as the stabilization of your diabetes as you mentioned. Stay engaged with your healthcare team in case there are any issues that do occur but only address them if they happen.

On the vitamins question - I take a centrum multi vitamin 2X a day, along with an iron supplement and separately I take calcium 3X a day plus a b-12 shot once a month (for the first year, then it will be a daily sublingual pill). Based on the research, doctors here recommend 200% of the RDA but that's easy to do. -

Partlypollyanna,

Your message brought calm.

I do not know why in Brazil doctors only indicate 100% of the RDA.

Thank you so much.

That's a pretty cool infographic. That being said, I do question what they mean by "resolved". Specifically in regards to things like degenerative joint disease. I can understand "progress halted" or "pain reduced", but how the heck does bariatric surgery resolve degenerative joint disease? Did they happen to talk about that one specifically and what they meant by resolved in that instance?

This isn't the exact one my program used (that's copy righted) just a similar one.

I don't remember if theirs specifically said "degenerative joint disease" - but I know the discussion we had was about joint pain/replacement needs and that reducing the weight on them would typically improve the time before replacements are needed and/or reduce pain without the need for a replacement.

I am so sorry you are having a rough time and regretting the surgery. I hope that soon you are able to find peace and live your best life.

The ASMBS recommends vitamin supplementation for every surgery patient and it's roughly 200% RDA. I made a listing of the values here for your reference; you can usually get there with a double-dose of a regular adult multivitamin.
