Which Magnesium should I how much? Also, I am 14 years out. Also, my hair started thinning a lot over the past two years. Don't you lose your hair not long after surgery? I never did lose my hair after surgery, but I am doing any and everything I can to thicken my hair. My hair grows long, it's just very thin. I take the required supplements for bariatric patients. I would like to know your opinion about this and advice would be appreciated. Thanks very much.

Honestly I can't answer your Magnesium question, you'd need a dietician or naturopath for that. Different forms of it target different issues. (heart health, as a sleep aid, etc) My revision to RNY was 19 years ago and I did have a little thinning but it grew back well. It has been an unusual side-effect of anesthesia for me to lose hair after a procedure and it has happened several times since my RNY. It normally grows back with no supplements but this year I've had one sedated and one general anesthesia procedures, lost 70# of regain in 7 months and it is seriously falling out now. Like, you-can-see-my-scalp falling out. I'm back to taking hair growth supplements but hate that because it usually just grows nose, chin, arm and leg hair instead of what should be on my head, lol.
Sorry that wasn't totally helpful. If your insurance would cover it, it would be a good idea for a follow-up visit with your surgeon's dietician or another wls specialized dietician. Wishing you the best of health!
