Thank you for your help! I know that's a tough one to even answer. I have UHC. I will call.

Every insurance carrier is different and even policies within the same carrier can be different. The only way you can know for sure is to call the 1-800 number on the back of your insurance card.

If they confirm they will cover the surgery, make them send you something in writing, and dated. Print that out if you need to in order to have a hard copy. Or take a copy of the page in your policy that proves coverage. Insurances are notorious for saying all kinds of things and then doing another.

Good Luck, I wish we could answer these insurance things for people but there just is no way for us to know.

I had revision surgery in 2013 from the sleeve to the bypass and insurance covered it at 100%. It's 2018 and I'm having issues with the bypass and having to have a revision of the bypass and I just got my letter today that it is being covered.

Good Luck!

Topic: RE: Gastric bypass in 2013 and now having a revision of the gastric bypass. Anyone done the same ?

Are you recommending that based off of something that I said or have done? Or you have been through the same thing and chose to go another route that you think might work better? Interested in why I should get an out of state opinion. Thanks!

I recommend you contact the following surgeon for a second opinion on how to best proceed; he does video consultations for out-of-area clients.

I recommend you have a video consult with Dr. K, who is one of the best revision surgeons in the US, and he also resolves complex abdominal issues.

Interesting! I just heard this from someone else, who said our bodies remember the weight we were at and can't be tricked a 2nd time. But, that's crazy....did you lose faster w/the sleeve?

Would you do the revision again? Any complications?

I'm so sorry to hear about your complications! Do you mind if I ask what the complications were? This is what I'm scared about, having a revision to bypass? Was it intestinal blockage? Yikes!

And, what doctor do you see? I'm in Dallas area. You can message me too if you prefer. Thanks!

This makes much more sense. I know several who've developed GERD and had to revise. Glad you can get it taken care of .

Oh, and just for the record. I don't remember that you weren't "ok in the head".

Good luck and I hope you get it all taken care of soon.
