Hi Erika,   Welcome to the board....

Dr. Richards is my surgeon and I do believe that he hung the moon...  I had my WLS in October of 2006.  I am 5' 3 and weighed 277 pounds.  Today I am still 5'3 (LOL) (note to self ; ask Dr. Richards if he can do sumthin about that LOL) and today I weigh 116 pounds.

My BMI was 49 and rated as morbidly obese.  My BMI is now 20, and rated normal healthy.  People with a BMI within 18.5 to 24.9 possess the ideal amount of body weight, associated with living longest and the lowest incidence of serious illness.

I attended all the WLS seminars in the area several times and chose Dr. Richards based off of all my research and that it was right for me.

I have several friends that have had Dr. Richards perform their WLS as well and all have done and are doing wonderful.

The WLS center at Vanderbilt is also an outstanding center of excellence.  Jennifer K. is top notch as well as Jamie the nutritionist.

I also have DR.Richards. I am preop also. I am pretty confident in the choice I made. He only does RNY and I have read many of his papers. He is definitly in all the way for the type of surgery I opted for. I have only seen him once, that visit..well  he gave me the impression that he knew what his place was in the office ....the surgeon....wich was great because thats exactly what I want to know. His staff can take care of the rest. When I  asked him questions about the biology of the RNY he was GREAT!  and put my fears at ease because of his explainations.  The second visit was with his nurse practioner. She was great. She actually called us to let us know we needed to start vitamin therapy and thruoughly discuss my husbands diabeties. She gave me the impression that she is involved more with the staff in the office and running things. They have always returned my calls within 2 hours. The staff is realy nice and good at what they are doing. They are also in the middle of relocating. Right now they are at Vanderbilt hosptial downtown nashville. They will be at green hills soon...not the Vanderbilt hospital.   Just wanted to let you know where you would be traveling to. Good Luck!
