Topic: Conference
This is my second conference since WLS. My first I was newly post op and on liquids so I didn't have an issue, which is, FOOD! Snacks during conference broadcasts are a tradition. My family is insisting on the regular fare, and I don't want to give it to them. I don't want that stuff in the house. I tried to give them a veggie plate and I got much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth. Not to mention the between session potluck, and the after session root beer float fest. I had never realized until now how food is tied up in all of this. Ever since childhood, something about conference has made me hungry, then sleepy. I have to fight this deamon!

Topic: RE: Love the sun!
This sun is GREAT! Time to break out the sunscreen for my one fair child! (He has brown hair and frys in the sun... my blondie tans!)
Good Luck with the diet! Have you tried the new WW? with the points? I loved it and lost 30 pounds.... but that was 60 pounds ago! It think the program is even better now. I have a friend that has lost 80 pounds all on her own with WW...(I don't have that kind of self control! That's why I was banded!) Anyway... don't think of it as a diet. I know when I do I sabotage myself and I don't make goals cause I seem to do worse!
Just don't think about it! (I hate when Dr.s/insurances make you do these pre-op diets... "Hey! if I could do that, would I really need the surgery???"
Good Luck!

Topic: Love the sun!
Funny thing. Since it's been so warm and sunny I'm finding my energy level is up and I actually WANT to get out and exercise.
I must have that seasonal disorder thing. Winter is just so dull.
Good thing the weather is improving because I've got to do a stupid three month diet that my insurance requires. I have to start it, well, now actually, but I'm procrastinating. It's a weigh****chers style diet and I gained eight pounds on weigh****chers starving the whole time. Not looking forward to doing it again.
The beautiful weather does help however.

Topic: RE: Hello everyone
Hey Tahsa,
Thanks for the response. i was begining to think i was the only one from Utah doing this. I will be having RNY- Open towards the end of May. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Thanks for the advice. I'm having a hard time getting in all the water i need. however, i continue to work on it. I've been walking everyday and have blisteres on my feet to prove it
I think i need to get me some better shoes. I'm glad to hear your doing so well. I can't wait till i'm on the losing side of life.
Have a great day
Valerie

Topic: RE: Hello everyone
Hi Valerie!
Welcome to the board! Which WLS are you having? I'm a bander. I had the Adjustable Gastric Lap Band. I was banded on August 11, 2003. I started at 274 and am now down to 212. I am sooooo happy with my weightloss so far! It is so fun seeing a body I haven't seen for years and really don't remember! I'm getting down to the sizes when my mother still bought my clothes for me! It's great!
Here are my 2 most important advices.... WATER and EXERCISE! Make a plan now to get in your water and your exercising! You will reach a point when the weight loss starts to slow and the only way to continue it is to WORK at it through exercise!
Good Luck...and enjoy your new journey!
