Topic: Food storage and WLS
Hi, I have a question.
Being LDS I believe in preparedness. I have a year supply of food among other things. It's mostly the basics: wheat, beans, rice, veg oil, sugar, powdered milk, etc.
My question is, if anything ever were to happen and my family and I had to live off our storage, could someone who has had WLS eat this stuff?
It's really important to get the protein in, I know, and I know wheat is actually high in protein, but is it enough?
I know this is more of a question for a dietician but I wondered if anyone else here thought about the same thing.

Topic: RE: HELP!!
Hi Kristin,
I can't help you much. But I wanted to let you know you're not alone.
My insurance, Aetna, requires six months of physician assisted weight loss.
I've never bothered with that because I've never felt a doctor could tell me anything I didn't already know. I figured it wouldn't work either so why waste time and money on getting a doctor's help?
I don't know what Aetna's going to do but, if they make go through some doctor's program, then that's what I'll do. Gotta jump through those hoops!
Anyway, yes, IHC is the pits. Aetna can be a pain too but I sure like them better than IHC.
You might want to look into Aetna.

Topic: HELP!!
I'm considering having this surgery, I haven't gone to the DR in a long while other than when I have a cold or something. There is no documentation with a DR on my struggle with my weight. Will this be a problem?
Also, I've been going through and reading about insurance carriers in the state of Utah who will or will not cover this surgery, and apparently I have the worst insurance possible for this type of thing. I have IHC So I guess my next question is for those who have been self pay, how much is this surgery? I guess I need a total as to what I'm looking at as far as hospital stay, the surgery and everything else that comes along with getting the surgery. I've also looked at buying an individual health plan, but can't seem to find one who will cover it? Any help there??
If anyone has any answers I'd sure love to hear from you!
You can email me at [email protected]
Thank you!!
Kristen

I'm in SLC, Holladay, actually. My doc is Dr. O.Layton Alldredge at Alta View Hospital. I orginally had Dr. McKeen in Payson but he moved his practice to California. I hope you can find someone else close to you! Good Luck and keep in touch!

Topic: Financing help - we found this ---
Hi everyone,
I am posting this for Sherri, ObesityHelp Web Services Manager:
Greetings everyone! We wanted to get your feedback. Here at ObesityHelp.com
we are always trying to help our members in anyway we can. We have found a
special finance company that deals with financing surgical procedures such
as plastic surgery and bariatric surgery and would like to hear your
experiences and feedback with dealing with this company.
Several people, as a back up plan, have applied and gotten preapproved for a
loan, just in case their insurance company denied them at the last minute,
so they wouldn't have to postpone their surgery.
So, check it out, it's free to apply.

And make sure to let us know how things went and help us to determine if
this service is a benefit to our members.:deal:
You can send your feedback to [email protected]
For your privacy, please do not post personal information in your replies on
the message board!!
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!!

Topic: Anyone in Provo, Utah or thereabouts?
I live in Provo and I'm currently investigating weight loss surgery.
Apparently there aren't too many bariatric surgeons in this area.
There's one I'm looking into: Max Cannon. Does anyone know him? Thanks for any info anyone can give me.
