I'm sorry about that...let's try to keep a positive attitude...maybe right now isn't the perfect time. Keep trying! Wear out the insurance company. Stay on your Doctor's back...try another doctor! Does he believe in the surgery? Good Luck, keep the faith! It will work out someday!

Tasha Good for you. Be sure and keep us all posted on how you are doing. You have a great attitude. I'm really interested to know what you are eating, what tastes good and what you are hating. Have you tried the Carnation Instant Breakfast yet? They said in the pre-op class to drink that. Keep up the good work! I think you are great!

Tasha, Congratulations! I'm happy that things went well with you. Who did your surgery? You sound like it was easy. The rest of us that are waiting are glad to hear your story. Let us know how you are doing and again, it's exciting to see you post so soon after surgery. Good Luck! Mary

Hey Everybody! I'm baaaack! The surgery was "textbook" as the doc told me. I'm a great candidate for this and I will do great! My tummy is a little sore, which I think can be expected since it underwent a little surgery. I have 5 little incisions (1" & under) and 1 bigger one (2"). They feel ok and just have sterry strips over them. They will wear off in about a week. My back kills and is really sore! I can't wait to sleep on my side again. My pain medication (Lortabl Elixer) did absolutely nothing for me. I think I needed a higher dose (You know what a druggie I am). The Dr. didn't seem to concerned about it. I don't feel any differently without so I haven't taken the last two doses. Once I get in the shower today, I'm sure I'll be feeling really good. I am able to walk around and sit up for a while. I had water, apple juice, orange jello, green jello and chicken broth throughout the day yesterday. I even had 1/2 a saltine with the broth. I just kept it in my mouth until it was completely dissolved... doesn't this sound like fun!?! I'll probably try some different foods today... maybe yogurt or pudding or applesauce. I'll just take it realllllly slow. I don't want to get sick! Oh yeah! I've lost 4 lbs. since Monday! That's a lifter-upper! Well, I'll talk to you all again soon! Thank you so much for your kind words and well wishes! I appreciate all you do for me!

Some one in the information class I went to about lap band asked about getting pregnant and they said there wouldn't be any trouble. The only concern they would have is if you were throwing up a lot and the band might move if it hadn't healed in place yet. They even said that if you weren't getting enough nutrition through the opening they could open it a bit for you and then make it smaller again after the baby was born. That made sense. Anyway, congratulations on your new baby. That's so exciting.

Topic: Good new for people who are self-pay.
I talked to Dr. Hansen last Saturday and he said they are trying to get a deal worked out with a surgery clinic in Sandy to do their lap-band surgery there. This will save a self-pay patient about $5,000 of the hospital costs if it works out. This could bring the total of the surgery from $17,500 to $12,500. He wasn't sure when it would be totally worked out with the surgery clinic but felt like it could be in place by the end of August. Whoo, hoo! This will really be a blessing to some people who haven't been able to have the surgery because of the cost. I am going to the pre-op class next week and hope to hear that everything is worked out!
