Hi Roxanne, Don't get too discouraged... I dropped off my papers on May 22nd, and was told the same thing as you, that it would be at least four weeks in their office before they even submitted to insurance. I'm not going to promise yours will come back as quickly, BUT..... I received my insurance approval this past Monday, the 9th of June! And I've heard from several people who had him do their work, that Dr. Halversen has the best bedside manner. Hang in there, and email me if you would like! Donna

Hi Roxanne. Doctor Halversen is supposed to be the best bedside manner doctor with RMAP. My mom had him and he was so sweet and nice to her. I didn't know that Halversen didn't do lap. That's the one I am looking to have. I was going to go with Halversen. I guess not now. I am still waiting to take the ss class so I can get my paperwork. I've been waiting since the beginning of May. I hate waiting.

Topic: I'm SO not good at waiting
I dropped my papers off at Rocky Mtn Assoc. Monday. I called today to see if they sent them to Cigna yet. They then told me it takes them 3-4 weeks to review the paperwork and send them off. I was aggrevated and explained I was trying to get this surgery and be recovered by the time the U of U semester starts in Aug. I didn't want to miss a semester. She said that Dr. Smith was way booked up and that's who I wanted. But I told her I wanted open not lap so she suggested I take Halverson who does only open. He's not as booked and I could get in to see him quicker. I guess lap is more popular these days. So I changed. I know somebody said she got denied because he put the wrong code on her paperwork. And another person said he didn't have good bedside manner, and another said he didn't give a whole lot of info during the consult. But I have heard more positive things about him than negative so I guess he'll do. I just really hate all this waiting. It takes several weeks for each process. Getting your docs from your primary, giving them to surgeon's office to review and send off, waiting for Cigna to approve, waiting to get a consult appt. then waiting to schedule a date. Boy, I've never been good with waiting but with all this practice, I must be getting better with it.

Topic: Has anyone gotten pregnant since having WLS?
I'm trying to decide if I want to get pregnant again now with the last baby and then have the wls or wait until I've had the wls and have lost the weight and get pregnant later. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Topic: Hello everyone! I'm new to this board.....
My surgery date is set for June 25 with Dr. Simper. Lap is the plan unless something goes wrong. I appreciate any support, advice, tips, etc. that will help me along this new path I am taking. I am looking forward to getting to know some of you on this board and maybe meeting you at some of the support group meetings. Thanks! Susan

Great Job Steve. I had Lap RNY with Dr. Smith, on March 18th. I am almost down 50 pounds in 2 1/2 months. I feel great. I have already had several small plateaus. I had one after 2 weeks postop for about 10 days. That was horrible. I have never met doctor Halverson. Dr Smith was fabulous though. I had absolutely no complications.
