Great Job Steve. I had Lap RNY with Dr. Smith, on March 18th. I am almost down 50 pounds in 2 1/2 months. I feel great. I have already had several small plateaus. I had one after 2 weeks postop for about 10 days. That was horrible. I have never met doctor Halverson. Dr Smith was fabulous though. I had absolutely no complications.

Hello Steve:
I am also going to go through Rocky Mtn Assoc for my RNY surgery. I been considering Dr. Smith or Halverson. I haven't met either yet because I have not yet gotten insurance approval. I have one more letter to get from my primary care doctor, then I'll take all the stuff up to them to send off. How did you decide on Halverson? Did you meet Smith? I know Smith does both open and lap. Why didn't you have lap? I've heard the recovery time is quicker. I've had a lot of other abdominal surgeries and have a lot of adhesions so I think they'll opt for open but I don't know. I wish I could meet and talk with them. I hate having to wait until I get insurance approval just to meet and talk with one of them. But, I guess that's they way it is. Make sure you go on that page and rate the hospital service. I look at that site periodically.

Hi all my Utah buddies!
I had my surgery on Feb 3, 2003. I have done well, had open with Dr. Halversen, he is the best! I have lost 108 lbs so far but am getting a little frustrated now. I have hit a plateau. People tell me it's normal, but it is discouragign when I have been used to losing a pound a day and now basically haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks. Oh well, time will tell.
I just wanted to say hi to everyone, take care!

Topic: Last meal-response to Darren
I have thought long and hard about this. I've decided that I will have my last meal at Red Lobster. I love their shrimp feast. It's my favorite. I just can't do what some people say they do before their surgery. Some have said that they are eating the healtier diet plan now as to already be in the swing of things once they have surgery. IIIIIIII just can't do that. Or I'm not willing. I'm sure it's better for you to do that but.....I don't know. Maybe I'll feel different after I've gotten insurance approval and have a surgery date. We'll see.

Hi Roxanne,
I am not in Utah. But in the 4 corners area of Colorado. I am looking to have surgery in Salt Lake also as I will be self paying. I have sent in my paper work and am now just waiting to here back if Dr. accepted me and surgery date.
Would love to here from you. [email protected]

Hello:
My name is Roxanne and I'm working towards having WLS up here in Salt Lake with the Rocky Mtn group at St. Mark's hospital. I just got my physical done and I'm waiting for the results. I was also looking for someone here in Utah that has Cigna PPO and got approved so I can make sure I submit everything. THey wouldn't give me much info over the phone as far as what they require. They said just to send in everything I have to justify the surgery as a medical necessity. If I don't have to pay for a psych eval and a dietician I'd rather not. I see a lot of people get those done. I'm not sure if I really need that or not.

Congratulations Angela.
I am just getting ready to eat my last "fat" meal. Then I get to down that wonderful ****tail tonight and then become a "looser" tommorrow. It is sure great to here from people in the same state that are doing good. I wish you continued success.
