Hello all
I am a greenie to the website. I was introduced by someone in my WLS support group. It is so nice to be able to read everyone's stories and to hear how all are doing. I only wish that I had found the site BEFORE my surgery (2/3/06).
Before the surgery I weighed in at 271. In the week before the surgery(GB) I lost 9 lbs on a liquid diet. I am now at 242. It is exhilarating. Besides missing double cheeseburgers, things have gone well. I am in my last week of full liquids and have been experimenting with some soft food. The most challenging part I find is getting all the water down that I need to. At the most I have gotten down 50oz. Any suggestions?
I have only one major roadblock...Before my surgery I was taking a medication that I have been on for 7 years. Since the surgery everytime I take it I very quickly experience dumping syndrome. It is horrible and so debilitating. The dilemma is that I cannot be with out this medication. Has anyone experienced anything similar?? I would love to get some feedback!
I am so happy to be apart of this fabulous resource that all WLS patients should know about!

Project Patty.. Help still needed
My Dear Neighbor Patty is morbidly obese, over 500 pounds and cares for her mentally challenged brother Leonard. Our state recently cut their funding for their home health care and aid. So I have stepped in and have been doing her cleaning, laundry, shopping and errands for her. She is a very social beautiful person who has found herself housebound now. On top of the obesity she has severe lymphedema and chronic celulitis. She can no longer move about her own apartment and is confined to one chair in the living room. Her and her brother are in desperate need of some clothing. She wears size 6 x in pants and shirts. She needs underwear as well. She can no longer wear shoes so nice comfy socks would be nice as well. Leonard wears size 55 pants and 3 x shirts and t shirts, underwear size 54. Please see if you have any gently used items you can pass along to this family.

Byesville, OH - RNY (05/06/2005) - Dean J. Mikami, M.D.
I want to thank all of you who have requested my address to send clothes and personal care items for my dear friend Patty and her brother Leonard. They have no idea the suprises ahead of them. Since we had the holiday this week and mail is moving a little slow we are delaying the Ambush Makeover/Cleaning team move in until Next Saturday. We have more people available and this will give me more time to gather donations. I am working on a large wheelchair now, and some volunteers to make a ramp. I want her to be able to get out of the house and get some sunshine this summer and not be stuck in a hot apartment and have some fresh air..
Again, Thank you for the compassion you have shown for my friend and her brother. Your kindness will come back to you many times over.
Again we are in need of size 6 x Womens clothing and underwear, socks and personal grooming aids. ( baby wipes, facial cleansing clothes, deoderant, toothpaste etc)
And for Leonard Size 55 jeans, belts, Tighty whitey size 54, 3 x White t shirts, and 3 x shirts and socks.
Also Gently used bath towels, wash clothes, dish towels and rags.. If you have none of these items and still would like to help in some way I have a few ideas that can brighten her days. She LOVES country music. Especially Keith Urban, Conway Twitty, Rascal Flatts, Bluegrass and pretty much anything country. If you would have the ability to burn cd's that would be a great idea.. And she loves to read, so any leftover magazines, paperback novels etc would be wonderful. Cards of encouragement are most welcome as well. I would love to be able to hand her a stack of cards from people all over the country that let her know that there is a whole community of people who have been where she is, and we are here to help. If anyone is interested in being a pen pal with her please indicate that as well. I am just trying to think of any way possible that everyone can help in some small way to remind her that she is important and that there is a real world outside the living room..
I Love you all and thank you so very much for all the kindness you have shown to my dear sweet Patty. I have seen her several times this week and I am about ready to burst trying to keep this Big Secret and not spill the beans.
Thank you again,
Hugs from Laura in Ohio

Topic: RE: Looking for Insurance and a Job
Danielle,
Unfortunately, most employers do not offer insurance to part-time employees. I work for Beneficial Life and have DMBA insurance. I had approval within three weeks of submitting my paperwork.
I know that our agency is looking for a receptionist, but they need full-time.
Good Luck in your search.

From what I have heard that BXBS is a really good insurance to cover in Utah. I also noticed that alot of companies don't over insurance for part time employees. Good Luck!!!
