NYC WOW

  Last weekend my dear husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to New York City. He did not tell me where we were going until we were about 1 hour out side of the city. We stayed in Jersey City right across the Hudson River from Manhattan. We took a train from our hotel into New York and it only took about 15 mins.  I nearly got weepy eyed the first time I stood in times square and looked around.   Well, my WOW moment came when we went to the Empire State building. You have to buy a ticket ($19.00 per person!!!) to ride up to the observetory look out area. We rode the elavator to the 80th floor and then you had to wait in line again to get on an other elevator to the 86th floor. At this time they ask if any one wants to walk up the last 6 flights of stairs instead of waiting in line for the elevator you could. So.... we took the stairs. There was a man and a woman in front of us who also decided to walk the last 6 floors also. We started up....and we went up and up and up!!! (I really thought that there were much more than 6 flights!) Well, the couple that were ahead of us could not make it with out stopping. They had to stop and Jeff and I just kept on getting it on up the steps. I felt like a new woman being able to keep going with out catching my breath! I just kept thinking that less than 2 years ago I would not have been able to make it up those stairs with out passing out!   We had a fantastic time and I cant wait to go back again. The department stores were decorated for Christmas and everything was beautiful!!!!! It was great to get away with just the 2 of us. It is something that we do not do, and I really think that it is important for a relationship...  I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!!! Gobble Gobble!!!! Cath

Cath, That is so awesome - I wouldn't have tried the stairs yet, but maybe in another year.  Growing up as a "southern boy", I never wanted to go to NYC, but at age 50 I went for the first time (with the family) and had a blast. An amazing place. Joe

AWWWWW Cathy how romantic, I wanted to go to see the tree this year but maybe next year, And we have friends going up there over the Christmas Holidays Id like to get the information so tell your hubby to email the info. please . Hugs to you see ya Dec 7th.

The tree at Rockefeller Center was still in the scaffling, but it was HUGE!!!! I wish that it would have been ready. That city has so much to do and see that we could not see all that we wanted to see. I will e-mail you the info on the place that we stayed.  I will look at my schedule for the 7th. How sweet of your husband to do that for you!  NYC is a fun place to visit...so much going on and places to go see.  Good for you on the steps...we all know how great that is!!!  Cindy
