Sweet Cathy  dont feel like that I to have the same issues going on and  seems everytime I turn around my honey is bring ing home something someone has given him for the holidays or I go to the store and see some of his favorites and  carry it home  and think its ok Ill be ok with it. An I find myself taking a bite of it. Im not gonna lie about it I got into the chocolate covered cherries the other day and I told someone I swear they made me drunk I passed out from them. And she told me that it was were my blood sugars had dropped I think is what she said but I slept for 2 hours wont be doing those again. Like said eailer this morning we are all human we make mistakes and we learn dont beat yourself up learn and move on. We are going to be tempted but I have cleaned  the house out  again and ask him (my honey) to take all his goodies to work  and Ill buy him what he wants just take them away from here. With kids I know its hard just buy things you dont like is all I cant say. Hang in there though hugs and glad we will see ya Sat. God will get you through the Holidays as he always gets us through our  rough times.....

Hello dear Melinda!  It helps just having friends listening to my issues. I know that you guys understand what I am going through. My family and (most of) my friends do not understand the issues that I (we) face, the demons and self sabatoge thoughts that we face nearly on a daily basis.  Thank you for replying!!! Love, hugs and best wishes coming your way! Cath

Yep, having the same problem here.  Trying to grab something healthy when I go for those snacks.  I have slipped up a few times but not too bad.  Keep trying, grab a healthy snack. take a walk, get some water or protein drink instead, do a little dance, something.  You can do it!!!

From an article titled Don't Be SAD in the OH.com magazine by the lecturer and LCSW Tink has scheduled for the Sunday morning of the Jan 08 Sock Hop Conf in Richmond.  I also used this as my topic for discussion at our Support Group last night that addressed this very concern you are having.  I am pasting in the last part that gives suggestions on how to deal with the periods we get consumed with naughty food(s). In addition, we covered in open discussion,    1) why did we have WLS?   2) why did we want to get better? I think if you can recall those feelings and desires when you are tempted, pause long enough to ask yourself, is it worth it,... to eat those "inappropriate - bad, evil sugary, fatty" foods. Try an alternative that is wiser instead.  We can do this. Here is the conclusion of the article,...alot of what Courtney suggested too,...isn't she the smartest??? Planning for Success Create a plan before the holidays come so that you know your options and can care for yourself in ways that won’t sabotage your progress. Instead of focusing on food, remember the true meanings of the holidays and all the reasons you have to be grateful. Here are some practical things you can do that will help you face the holiday challenges.   • Write a gratitude list. Include all of the things you have to be grateful for.   • Write a list of reasons you are proud of yourself for this past year. Ask a friend for help, if you wish. They will know lots of things you can be proud of.   • Before the holidays arrive, make a list of things you can and will do to relax. Plan them into your schedule with no erasures.   • Bring a support person with you to family events.   • Notify a friend in advance that they may receive a phone call. Call them if you need to.   • When feelings become too intense, take a walk around the block and temporarily remove yourself from the situation.   • If you have Internet access, go online to find support.   • Spend more time outdoors exercising or walking during the daylight hours Take care of yourself first, and have a good holiday season!  v Merle Cantor Goldberg, LCSW-C, BCD, CEDP, (www.merlecantorgoldberg.com), is a lecturer and trainer worldwide and the author of award-winning Weight Loss Surgery: Is It Right For You? Yes Cathy, you can do this. We all can as long as we keep turning to each other for support.  I've been baking cookies like crazy the past week. At night, I get in bed, open my book and then the evil thoughts pop in my head...."go get a cookie, go get a cookie". So I have turned to the telephone and called my sister--it would be so impolite to eat while talking on the phone! Then if it continues I ask my son to get me a protein drink or piece of jerky. I am addicted to the Friday's steak bites. They are so tender. mmmm.....

Thank you for sharing this post. I am going through the same thing and everything posted here has been of help. In fact I am now leaving to take the stairs up to the fifth floor to get some much needed exercise.
