I tried my first protein supplment today and it wasnt all together bad... It's Pro Complex  Aumented Protein System Dietry Supplement ( Thx Autumn ) 55 grams of protein and 260 calories per serving ( 2 scoops with 6 to 8 oz ) It doesnt taste too bad, it's a lil thicker and foamier than I'd like but then again I made it with 2% milk ( because I havent been to the store ) I really dont like the after taste...very articfical sweetener feel...but I can drink it for the moment..it isnt terrible :) I plan on finishing this glass and having a snack around 1ish follwed by another glass and then dinner close to 4 or 5 maybe a snack inbetween. We'll see if I devolop a taste for it...thankfully there is only a couple more servings of it in the can ( it was donated and open ) and then I have two more types of BIG tubs ( again thx Autumn ) to try out in the coming week's before I make a decision on what types to bring in the house after surgery. Im going to the store today to buy my vitamens a I may pick up the CIB and the other's that have been discussed on this board just so I have a good choice for when my taste buds head south :)

Keep updating with what you like.  I am really concerned about the protein thing.  I am scared I am going to have to force this stuff down.

Too All - consider it medicine not food do all that's possible just to get it down!  Mind games - they work! BTW - I still drink a shake each morning of ProComplex in 8 oz skim milk usually with a SF syrup added

I do ones from the Vitamin Shoppe. It is Worldwide Pure Protein. The have them in cans....like soda......in the cooler cases. I love the cookies and cream, strawberry cream and bannana cream. Don't buy a lot of any one thing cuz your tastes can change after the surgery. The pure protein is thick but not too thick and not foamy. Give one a try and let me know what you think.

I found that if I mix my powder with water I can drink them better. The milk makes it too rich for my taste. I also only add one scoop instead of 2 to make it less thick. Good luck!!!!! Cath

I found, coming home from surgery, that what really hit the spot was Isopure...the bottled kind...had it over ice and it was actually refreshing.  I bought a mixed case of it, and tried new flavors for some time, finding the ones that I could use (and still do) and those that were definite "nos."  The nice thing about it...most of them are carb free and 40 grams of protein for 20 oz.  Check the labels to find out which don't have carbs if that is a concern.  Another one that I like is the Muscle Milk Lite (premade)...they come in chocolate (yum) and chocolate mint (yum again) to name a few.  They are easy to take with you, and are 20g of protein each.  Great for when you are on the go. Hope that helps!  I am still experimenting with new ones...but Isopure and Muscle Milk Lite are staples. Cindy

Hey Brandi, I bought the strawberry whey protein from GNC and really like it, it's one scoop with 8oz of milk and I make it with 1% milk, I bought the chocolate but haven't tried it yet. I've don't like the IsoPure drinks, way too much of an aftertaste for my taste buds.. So I have 2 bottles sitting in my fridge where they've been since 2 weeks before surgery.
