I had had a terrible headache, nauseau and vomiting for a few days. Had called back surgeon who said it probably wasnt related to my recent back surgery. I had to go to PCP when I got really sick and was sent straight to UVA. After an MRI they found a pocket of fluid around my surgical site. They withdrew and tested. Did not show up as spinal fluid or infection. They have me at home for now. If it comes back I have to be scheduled for exploratory surgery to find the problem. Please pray that the fluid pocket was the culprit and no more surgery. My recovery had been very great so far and praying for no more complications. Thanks for all your prayers and concern. Shannon

Glad your home  and it wasnt the spinal fluid I know how worried you were when I was there yesterday that it may have been that. Hope there wont be another surgery in the future so you can get on with your life.

Shannon, I will keep my fingers crossed that they found the issue and that you continue to recover. I think you are very brave to deal with all this and an example to others to not give in. I wish you well in your recovery and hope this might be the end of your issues. Jackie

Shanana, I too experienced a pocket of fluid after my surgery, somewhere around the same proximity of time you did from your surgery. I was sent by my surgeon, to get a c-scan to figure it out. My lower abdomin really hurt and I was walking a bit hunched over like an old lady. I was rather  uncomfortable and knew something wasn't right! As it turned out, I had a pocket of fluid fat that had detached from the blood source and wasn't going anywhere and it was pressing on an old hernia thus making me even more uncomfortable! My Dr. simply aspirated the fluid (removed it with a syringe) and bingo, no more major pain. I did find out that the hernia, which I did suspect was there, needs to be repaired. I will have the hernia repaired when I have my tummy tuck and I'll be as good as new. I hope you find out that your fluid is as simple as that! This happened to me at the site of my  GBP Mini incision and my Dr. aspirated it then too. No big deal! Everything has gone just like clockwork and I am just 9 lbs. from my goal. I figure I'll work really hard to loose 5 more then the tumy tuck should take care of about the last four. Please let us know what happens to you with this. I so wish that everyone who goes through GBP surgery could be as lucky and as complication free as I have been! McLean
