Keeping Your Commitment!

Hi everyone, Please remember no matter what phase you're in through this weight loss journey to  KEEP YOUR COMMITMENT to the diet guidelines.    I had gastric bypass two and a half years ago.  The foods you are supposed to stay away from after surgery  (for the rest of your life) are not a suggestion.   If you want to feel and look fantastic the REST of your life don't give food any power over you.    Follow the food list guidelines and embrace them for giving you back your health.   I slowed my weight loss when I reached a size 10 by adding a bit more fat in my diet.   I start every day with a whey isolate protein shake, never have sugar anything (no reg. ketchup, bar-be-que sauce, etc), no alcohol, no soda (stretches your pouch) and eat very well.   I'll have one piece of pizza occasionally, a few potatoe chips, etc.  when my calorie intake for the day can take it. Please enjoy your life and eat well, but stay committed to the no sugar plan.   Don't 'test out' foods to see if you can sneak them in.   They're not worth it.    Be healthy and slim....that's what this surgery will give back to you.     Hugs to you all....   be brave!    : ) gina

Thanks for the post. It always helps me to stay focused when I hear other peoples success stories. You are an inspiration and what you say is so true! It is so easy to start eating junk again. I have to really work hard to eat the right things. But like you, I stay clear of sodas, and carbonated drinks. I just need to cut out my sugar intake. Today it has been so hard with all the yummy Easter candy in the house. I have only had a few pieces so far, and now after reading your post, I dont plan on eating any more today. Thanks again!! cath

Hi, Gina:  What a great post!  Like you said, I avoid sugar and any of what WW used to call "red light foods" -- even if they are sugar free.  In fact, I had ordered the Girl Scouts Sugar Free Chocolate Chip cookies because I knew calorie and sugar-wise I would be okay, but decided to give them away because I don't want to get started again for fear I won't stop.  I hope I can stay this determined the further into the process I am!  :)

Hi Gina.  What a great post.  You had surgery right before I did.  I admit to slipping some in the last few months but am working hard at keeping it together.  I have noticed that I crave soda, I think it is hilarious as I have not had a soda in almost 3 years (I stopped drinking them several months before surgery) yet recently I have really craved them.  I just shrug it off & grab a nice bottle of crystal light instead.
