Had a complication

I know I don't post much and am more of a lurker, but wanted to let everyone know that I was just discharged Monday after a four-day stay in the hospital...I am a year post-op and had to have another laparoscopy to clear some scar tissue that had wrapped itself around my small bowel just below where the roux limb reattaches and the scar tissue decided it was going to have some fun and twist the intestine around some. Last Tuesday I had started to have some very strange abdominal pain, and by Thursday I found myself being admitted and wheeled back into surgery to remove it as well as fix two very small hernias that he found while in there. I was so upset because I have done so well (158 pound loss) and have had not one complication or issue...Dr. B's "poster child"...but unfortunately, sometimes this type of thing happens and there's nothing anyone can do to prevent it. It took them a while to even find it, because all of the initial scopes, scans and bloodwork were all perfect, until they saw massive fluid and gas backup into the remnant stomach on the CT. That led them to believe there was stricture or adhesions causing the problem in the intestines, and sure enough! And here I thought "Oh, I just have gas!!". I am doing well, though...sore belly, but I was able to go back to work today since I have a desk job. No exercising for 10 days at least  , and no heavy lifting. That means no beating up on Chris!! Other than that, I am doing just fine...just sad that this happened when I was determined to be the one with an uneventful journey! Chris apologizes for not calling anyone (Melinda and the FFP gang); everything happened so fast and I was stuck there in the hospital for four days without my laptop or cellphone!! Torture, I tell ya! Anyway, just wanted to check in, and thank you for all of the well-wishes. Hugggs, Dawn

Hi Dawn...so glad they figured out what was wrong & took quick action.  As uncomfortable as surgery can be, isn't it great that we have the technology that we have? So here's to your speedy recovery!!

Hugs!
Ann
