6 month insurance diet rant

I  thought I was handling this stupid, stupid, stupid 6 month diet requirement but really down deep I am just so irate!  My BMI is now 44 started at 46 before the "diet" it's been one month.  What if it goes below 40 during the six months??? ` They are going to flipping reject my claim for surgery!  Then three months later I am going to gain it all back plus some.  I hate the fact that they are forcing me to do this.  How do you mentally handle going through this when you know that it is just wrong and not medically helpful, harmful in fact, and is just designed to delay delay and more delay so that hopefully you change insurance and they dont have to pay for it.  It just makes me so mad that my PCP is assisting with this sham while at the same time is going around disguised as a doctor!  To make matters, worse, my insurance does not even require the darn 6month diet!! it is the management group of the doctor's office that is requireing it.  I am just spitting mad about this.  So much so that it is not helpful anger, so just typing this annoyance is helping curb the feeling that they are getting away with it.  I know you guys are the only ones who understand this outrage.  How do you make it through this hell and come out ahead instead of behind where you were when you started?? Ugh, this sucks!!! D2K

Is it possible for you to switch to another PCP? Fred

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

Yes, I can switch, but the catch is that this group is the only one contracted with the local surgeon who does the VSG.  I could switch to another group and get the RNY or lap band approved with a surgeon that only does RNY and bands without the 6 month diet requirement.  However, I really think the VSG is the right surgery for me.  So, there's the rub, they kind of have me between a rock and a hard place.
