Went in this afternoon to see my surgeon and get the drain removed.  I was expecting an office full of patients but it was empty.  My surgeon came out 20 seconds after I walked in the door and told me to come in.  He asked me how I was, I said fine.  He asked me to get on the scale, I did.  He then told me to lay down on the table and he proceeded to remove the drain and then put a band aide on my tummy and told me the hole might leak for a day or two.  I then sat up and he then asked me if I was on full liquids, I said yes, he said have you started the cream soups yet?  I said yes, yesterday.  He said good, he then said I could start the Soft Diet next Wednesday.  He then said he would like to see me in 2 months and to take care.... THAT WAS THE WHOLE APPOINTMENT!!!!  No questions about fluids or protein whatsoever.  Not really complaining I was just kinda surprised. Stacy

Sounds like an enlightened doctor to me!!! Fred

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

And HOW MUCH did you pay for it????    I would like to make that kind of money!

I learned to keyboard using OLD word processing software.  It DIDN'T have BOLD.  It DIDN'T have ITALICS.  Using CAPS is a HARD habit to break.

Stacy, I don't think that's enough guidance from a doc or his office for so soon after surgery. I think you'll get your best support and follow-up here on this forum. (Or at your doc's office's support group, if they have one.)

*You* thought of the right questions: fluids and protein. Good for you! But they should have told you to walk *if you feel up to it*. Later on, it will be, fluids, protein and exercise. My doc told me that if I don't do weight training, I will lose muscle during rapid weight loss.

Best, Jessica

Hmmmmmmm?  Could be that he knows that after two weeks there are seldom any problems, but I know you are going to have questions.  Feel free to call his office, that is why he got the big bucks.  Also post a lot.   It will help you with support.    I kind of know how you feel.  I was diagnosed with MS two years ago.  I haven't really had any big changes but I made an appointment with my neurologist at a year.  He talked to me for about two minutes, watched me walk, and said call me if you think you need to.  Yiks!!!  Don't docs know that this is a big deal to us.    Hang in there, all will be well.  Pat

Thank God for this forum!  I took the required 5 classes with the NUT from the clinic BUT I've learned so much more from this forum about everything.

I'm guessing that because the doctor was impressed with my knowledge about VSG the first time I met with him, it is perhaps the reason he didn't elaborate or ask any more questions during my visit yesterday.  I certainly hope so, because a "newbie" would be totally screwed if they didn't know enough about follow-up care.

Stacy I too was in to see Dr. Sadek on Friday afternoon. I've never seen him before.  I usually see Dr. Dobruskin who is on maternity leave.  He's very laid back.  Did you give you your 1st bloodwork slip yet for your next appointment.  When they do it's approx 11 vials.  Good luck with your weight loss.
