Age restriction for surgery?

I don't know your age, but I'm 71 and hoping to get my sleeve in Denver this fall. If you're on Medicare, they pay for some WLS procedures. My surgeon says he cuts off at age 69, but also told me he once performed the surgery on a 74 year old, and it scared him, (the surgeon), due to the patients health conditions. HTH, Fred

LaVona,  Welcome to our board.  I was 63 when I had my  surgery. I was diabetic, with high blood pressure, severe arthritis and had a BMI of 72.  I have had NO  problems with this surgery.  Rose

LaVona... First, WELCOME to the board!  My doctor has both an upper limit and a lower limit on age.  I think it depends on the doctor.  One of the questions you asked was about the hospital stay.  That too will vary but I will be in three days, two nights.  (Sounds like a mini cruise advertisment!) Where are you located?  I know of a really good doctor in North Carolina (Wake Forest area) and then of course my wonderful doc here in Maryland.  I will be sleeved on Tuesday and am looking forward to more of this weight coming off!   To quote a musician friend of mine , "I am bound for greater things!"
