Ok I had a momentary freak out the other day....but things are better now...and I thank everyone here for not only putting up with me but for offering such great advice and beautiful words. It really helps and I credit getting through these times to all of you who know what it is like to have bad days or weeks....seems like it was a trend this week with a few of us. Ok NEW PROBLEM...actually it has been going on for a few months now...but the tailbone situation is getting worse. Anyone else have this horrid tailbone pain??? I have resorted to sitting on a cut out cushion that doesn't really help that much...and I have to lay a certain way on my side now because it hurts to lay down. I love the weight loss but this pain is not funny anymore...I am taking ibuprofen twice a day....doesn't help much really. Anyone else...I am seriously thinking of getting a cortisone shot in my hiney.....that sounds painful too...but heck I gotta do something? Anybody there have this and have gotten relief from it...if so how? Thanks bunches Sherri

WooHootiHoo! I have made it to 109!!!! A total of 190lbs lost!

Hi Sherri, I am pre-op but have had "tailbone pain" for years.  The only thing that helps for me is to take 2 Aleeve twice a day.  Also, you might want to try a product you see advertised on TV called Active-On.  You've probably seen the commercial.... very annoying.... but the product really works.  I use it both on my lower back/tailbone area and on my arthritic knees. Hope you get some relief! Vicky

Don't panic kid,

Just remember, when you are up to your ass in alligators it's difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp!

At a medical supply store you can get one of those air filled doughnuts to sit on.  They're also useful for hemmeroid sufferers.

HTH,

Fred

If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

Wow Sherri, You have lost so much fanny!!!!!!  I have no advice because this is a problem I am never going to have.  Baby's got back as they say.  I will gladly donate some padding..... Congratulations on the fabulous weight loss, but I guess what they say about beauty being painful is very true!!!! Maybe some massage treatment or hydro therapy would help.

Oh ouch!  I have this problem too, it comes and goes.  I'll feel ok for a few days then I starts up again.   It can't last forever, right?!

Hi Sherri,  Do you know if it is muscle spasms?  Or is it the lack of cushion from the weight loss?  If it feels like bone pain, I'd go see a doc to see if it is spinal related (like a compression issue).   Sorry to hear about that...I know how dreadful chronic pain can be and how much it can wear you down physically and emotionally. Maybe a nice hot bath, nice massage from hubby.  Also, for me sometimes when nothing else helps, a nice roll in the hay with the hubby helps.  Something about an org*sm really helps me to feel better :) Krista

It is sore there all of the time..no relief from it...if I barely touch that area which is the tip of the tailbone AND the muscles around that area it hurts. Barely any pressure hurts it...even my jeans seam hurts it. I am pretty used to chronic pain...as I have lived with it for a while but this one is kind of an all the time pain that never goes away...I have had it for a few months now and I remember once a very long time ago when I was smaller around 140lbs I had this then...so I think it is from losing my fat pad on my butt and the pressure from sitting just irritates it and since I sit alot...it hurts alot. I don't think it is broken....I just think it is irritated and swolen? Going to check here to see if our insurance covers chiropractic stuff. thanks for your help :-) hugs Sherri

you really need to see a chiropractor, your center of balance is off and you are speaking to a mother of twins and 7 kids, i know a thing about balance. bone structure wise. lay on your back on the floor with your feet on the wall elevate your head as to put pressure on your tail bone lay for 15 min at a time. or if you have a helper have a small one sit on your tail bone when you are in bed or on the floor. till you get better ask doc for some tramadol 50 mg 2 x day . this is wonderful for back pain but you will barley notice it otherwise. will also help with restless leg syndrome.

I have had tailbone pain for years, excruciating if I had to sit for more than about a minute, and I have *plenty* of padding!  My mother had it, too, and she never weighed more than 120 pounds in her life and exercised religiously.  When I went to a pain clinic and they gave me injections in my lower back to "kill the nerves" that were causing me horrible lower back pain, the injections didn't do squat for the lower back (OW OW OW!), but they really REALLY helped the tailbone pain!  I'd have the injections again in a heartbeat.  They weren't pleasant, but they weren't really that bad.  --Dorothy
