My sleeve is a failure.

Hello, maybe you can help. It is now exactly 2 months since my op and I am pretty disheartened.

I have lost about 3 pounds. I'm not kidding. Before any of you jump to conclusions and assume I've been living on ice cream and coke, let me set you straight.

I run/jog 30 minutes every day (if you haven't downloaded the Ok Go 'Master the Treadmill' workout from iTunes, you should, it's really fun) and I live in Paris which means no car, which means looooads of walking. I eat healthy food and try to get my protein in every day, which seems to be the hardest part. I don't overeat, I can only eat a little before I get that "feeling" when you know you should stop, so it is not like the sleeve is stretched or broken somehow. I drink loads of water, and I try not to obsess about the scales- so much so that I haven't weighed myself until now, after becoming mildly obsessed with my weight early last month. I've even been avoiding this forum, as I was comparing my results to everybody's and getting horribly down about how my weight wasn't moving. But to no avail. I weighed in this morning and 3 pounds. 3 effing pounds. My sleeve has been an enormous waste of time, money, and effort. And before you say to measure myself- I HAVE. My jeans are still tight, and I'm still in the same size I was right after surgery.

It seems to me I am doing this by the book, I've read and re-read the handbook my surgeon gave me, and am finding nothing that I've skipped or am inadvertantly not doing.

Can anybody tell me if they have experienced something similar? The way I see it, this sleeve is a dud. I seem to have lost more weight WITHOUT it in previous diets. My next appointment with my surgeon is in November, so obviously I will speak with him as well (I'm sure he will notice the lack of any change) but I wanted to ask here as well. I'm hoping that there is something that is so obvious perhaps I am not seeing it, or that everybody is different, and my body is just stubborn and resistant to change and it will miraculously "kick in" any minute now, but my realistic side doesn't seem to think that will happen. It just seems really odd that every person on here has had such fantastic and positive results, and I seem to be the "dud sleever".

Again, any advice or anything would be appreciated. Thanks!

Based on what I just read, you need to call your Doctor right effing now!!!!!  The protein is so important and when I stalled it played a big part in getting me moving again.

I put loads of ice, half protein bullet, south beach or benefiber packet and water into a 20 oz glass and sip....sip and sip and when it gets empty I do it again.   If I am peeing alot then my scale moves.  I know it is a combination of the protein and the water.

I'm only one month post op and don't like to post often unless I feel strongly about what worked for me.  I can just imagine how you feel.  See your doc asap and make changes to up the protein.

Please let us know how things go for you.

I don't have an answer for you, but I would suggest you call your Dr and see if he/she can get you in to see a nutritionist. There has to be a clear answer, if he did, in fact, actually remove a major portion of your stomach. Makes no sense.

I hate to make it worse but it seems your body is trading on muscle and maybe in shock from you new found fitness.  I completely understand cause it's normal.. If you burn more than you intake then you lose, however if your building great muscles then it's trading time...I believe your gonna look great in the end.  Stop looking at everyone else body numbers cause they don't have your body metabolism.  Positive thoughts and Positive work = one strong lady..

I also would suggest that you ask if you could have your metabolism checked. If that is not working properly, there are things that can be done to help it along also.

I hope you get the answers you need!

My research shows that in France, Doctors have different size stomach measurements;  they may not have remove enough.   This o course is a guess however, but all but 2" was removed by my DOC.  I'm not sure that's the case in anyone else case...

You need to get to a Doctor now.  If you have a food diary to prove exactly how many calories you have been eating it will help.  You could have a medical condition that is causing this.  A friend of my mothers daughter has a disease that is causing her body to build fatty tissue around the major organs and no amount of dieting will help.  She is now on an experimental treatment.  She has been beating herself up for years over not being able to loose weight and only a couple of months ago found out that it is not her fault.  It is a very serious condition that you need to check on.
