Any VSG regrets?

I am trying to decide between RNY (covered by insurance) and VSG (not covered). I am trying to NOT make the decision solely on cost.

Regarding VSG I worry it might be easier to regain weight, but with RNY I am worried I won't stay on top of all the vitamin/supplement requirements.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

My surgeon (Dr. Kevin Reavis in S. California) never got tackled by one of his patients before.  I grabbed him around his neck and squeezed  the breath outta him at my 2 week post op appointment....why? ......I was so thankful that he saved my life........4 outta 5 I told him...............he asked me so how did I save your life......

#1   Normal blood sugars  twice a day for past 10 days post op
#2   FIRST low blood pressure reading in over 6 months in his office that day
#3   NO foot pain  over 2 years suffering with plantar fascieitis  on left foot  (my dr. was
going to send me to an orthopedic surgeon!! if the VSG didn't help)
#4   NO MORE HOT FLASHES!!!  or rather NOW they are so insignificant I have NOT taken my
        Premarin for 2 weeks!!!

Now 5th....I have to wait until lab....to see if my triglycerides are coming down.

IS THIS SURGERY A  MIRACLE???  DO YOU HAVE SIMILAR WEIRD DISORDERS THAT ARE NO MORE or NOT  IMPACTING YOUR DAILY FUNCTIONING?  OR IS THIS ALL IN MY MIND??

I guess I would agree since it has changed so many lives including my own.

Thanks for your reply! I too have plantar fascietis and I hadn't even considered it might be among the things resolved by surgery. Yay - maybe it will! Congrats on your success and thanks again for sharing it.

ROFLOLPIMP I had to reread it twice!!!  I was wondering what Rino was doing taking a female hormone.  He does not look like a sex change patient in pics!

No Female issues, except not always understanding your genders view...

You have a chance of regain with the RNy, and you have to keep up with the vitamins/suppliments/labs with the VSG.

I never cared for the malabsorption issue with RNY. Less chance of complications with VSG. This is why I chose the sleeve. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!!

Thanks, this is a really valuable insight. I've been to visit your blog before so I give a lot of weight (no pun intended) to your response. Thanks, and also thanks for blogging!
