Surgery around the holidays
My surgery's on 11/25, so I'll be spending Thanksgiving recovering, hopefully being thankful for my surgery :) It's the perfect time to take off work, but since what's left of my family is very small and doesn't really do much, it's not a big deal. On the other hand, I am looking for an adopt-a-family somewhere snowy for Christmas, so if that works out, I'll have to explain why I'm not eating much.
I had my sleeve surgery 12/4 and was one of the lucky ones with no problems other than gas for the first week or two. Christmas was not a problem as far as eating - that soon after surgery I had no desire to eat anything I shouldn't. The hardest part was explaining to friends why I was barely eating anything - I had decided to keep it a secret. I eventually told friends I had the surgery and most people were supportive and I could stop making all the excuses. I would say don't let the holidays stop you from having the surgery. My children are grown so my cir****tances may be different from yours but I never regretted having the surgery so close to the holidays.
