Are you still eating only a 1/2 cup of food?
My surgery was a week before yours and I'm at right around the same loss. And if someone told ME that I wasn't losing fast enough, I would tell them to go shove it! That's NUTS!
It depends what I'm eating, but for the most part, I can't even eat 1/2 cup of food. That's 4 oz. Maybe - MAYBE - I could eat that much soup. But any kind of solid food...no way.
How many calories does she recommend you eat a day? Not for nothing, she sounds a little out of touch.

I've never understood the 1/2 c of food thing - solid foods are measured in oz and liquids in fluid oz.
I am 3 mths out (just) and I know I can eat 2-2.5oz of solid foods and then a few bites of veg if I'm lucky. I get 95% of my protein by eating solid foods - on a "bad" day (like yesterday), I needed to supplement with a shake later in the day - mainly because my protein foods weren't dense protein (ie. eggs, cheese vs solid meat proteins which give more g of protein/oz usually).
And at 3 mths out with a starting BMI in the low 50's, I've lost 72 lbs from the week or so pre-op. So I think your surgeon is smoking crack.
