protein confessions

I don't know why I hadn't ever thought about it up until the other poster questioned you.  I've been on OH since June on a daily basis trying to learn all I can.  Seems I learn something new every day, especially now since I am now pursuing VSG instead of lap band, which was what I had been working toward until earlier this month.  I found a surgeon in Kansas City who will take self pay for $11,999, so I'm switching gears and will self pay for it, since my insurance doesn't covere VSG.

It just seems like 70 g for someone of small stature is a lot.  Thanks for the link.  I've put it in my favorites so that I can track that as I lose.

What an interesting journey....I'm getting very impatient.  I'm ready to do this.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I think we all learn something new every day.  :)  Good luck, Wanda!  I also started out wanting a lapband and changed when I learned about VSG.  Please keep me posted.  I haven't posted here in months...though I read everyday...but I don't know what made me post today.  LOL.

Feel free to read my profile but you will have to friend me as it is private.  Only a handful of people know I had surgery and I didn't want them stumbling onto my private medical information so I made it private.  Good luck on your journey!

I love the one by Nashua Nutrition which you order online.  They ship fast and I order 12 boxes at a time.  Each box contains 7 packets.  You just mix it with ho****er.  If you drink slowly, I suggest stirring it frequently or the protein will form a scummy layer on top...stirring it every so often prevents this.  I can't notice any change in taste or after taste with this brand (a problem I had witj other brands).

My fav is Jay Robb Whey protein powder, chocolate powder. I add a dash of banana extract, and use lactose free milk to mix it. Delicious.

I don't know if it is the same (sometimes the same product is packaged differently for different companies), but I've been using wonderslim hot cocoa since my surgery.  I have it every day for breakfast.  I also like their protein bars.  Like they said, it is great to start my day with some good protein and fluids.  I do NOT like fake sugar, and I still like this hot cocoa .. On this site, you can buy multiple boxes to save on shipping (free shipping if you spend 79.00 or more) and they give you quantity discounts PLUS an overall discount if you spend over 99,00.  Since I drink the cocoa EVERY day, I buy several boxes at once to take advantage of the discounts.

Wonderslim pretzel bows (soy protein 12 grams per bag) and, again, the protein bars are also GREAT !

I like the Nashua Nutrition brand too. The others either have a thin taste or tend to clump up when you add the ho****er.

Hmmm.  My doctor told me to get between 50-60 grams of protein per day.  I don't track it very well.  I just eat as much as I can and hope I get enough.  I have heard some people say they are supposed to get 100 grams.  It is so frustrating when the advice varies from dr. to dr.
