Hi...new guy on the board
Congratulations...wishing you a uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery. Are you kidding Rob...I has so much buyers remorse I asked the nurse to shoot me now because I know there is something terrible wrong with me. She just laughed and said everyone feels that way in the beginning.
Rob this sleeve is a blessing. I am 2 weeks out of surgery and started the mushy phase. I am able to eat...slowly but it feels wonderful. I initial had the band ....it was always a problem for me...food getting stuck and acid reflux and the band slipped on me causing a host of issues.
This morning I am eating a soft boiled egg. It is going down like normal and it feels wonderful....
(3minuters later....I heard the garbage truck and ran out to throw the last of the garbage out...and Muggles ...my 10 month old Bichon ate my egg.....ahhhhggggg)
Well as I was saying the quarter of the egg that I ate went down great...unlike the band where I would be so tight in the morning everything I ate would sit on my chest for an hour.
Rob...you will see...give it time a week or two after surgery...when you see the weight drop and you are getting stronger you will think that this sleeve rocks as well.
Since you are getting sleeved in April...you too can become part of our April Babies club....It is everyone that has surgery in April....we post under April Babies...so watch for us...we share support, rants, wisdom and friendship...We have this pretend park in Paris that has loser benches with our names on it when we have our surgery. So there is a seat waiting for you on the losers Park in Paris.
Welcome to the Park....Rob

Hi Rob, I'm getting sleeved the day after you, so I can relate. I'm a little nervous, especially after hearing another member was in the hospital for 2 weeks (I don't know why yet), and I'm wondering if I should have done more research. But I know that's just anxiety talking. I've already done a ton of research and I just need to put it out of my mind until it happens (I think).
Good luck to you and the rest of the upcoming sleevers.

@Longhorn_Girl - I don't think that would be because of the type of surgery. Some people just have complications, but overall, the sleeve is supposed to have fewer than any of the other surgeries. And when you compare what they are doing (or more specifically, what they're NOT doing) with this surgery compared to say an RNY, I think you're much better off. Just my opinion, of course. :o)
Hi Rob, and you're gonna love the sleeve. Best wishes for an uneventful surgery, and smooth recovery. Keep us posted on your progress, and congrats on getting your date and insurance approval.

Hi and welcome to OH! I can absolutely relate. The closer I got to my surgery date, the more erratic my emotions would get. I would go from excitement to absolute crazy fear and then start the cycle over and over again. Of course I had no reason to be scared because everything went great.
Your surgery date will be here soon and your weight loss journey can begin. Please keep us updated.
XOXOXO,
Christi
