I have not heard of this but I have been dreaming of it. I go to sleep and dream that I have gained all my weight back and than some. just wondering if anyone has heard that a person with vsg gained his or her weight back.

I have no idea why i dream of this but I do not like it.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

I am 7 weeks out now and have lost 55 lbs so far. Which I am very happy about. But now that I have lost that my dreams started. I keep reading on here how alot of people do not eat any thing white.

I try to eat healthy but do not always eat right. I guess that is why I am dreaming now about gaining all my weight back on and more.

My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

Unfortunately no weight loss surgery is fool proof.  I have seen people come back on here that have said they have gained anywhere between 10-40lbs back that are 2 or more years out.  I have not gained any weight back but I haven't lost anymore either since about 13 months out.  I am not trying to lose weight though, just maintain.  I try my best to make good food choices though and try not to graze.  It all depends on us to maintain and continue to make healthy food choices.  We all know where unhealthy food choices have gotten us in the past....  Don't stress over it though- YOU ARE IN CONTROL!

I'm only 5 days out and I dreamed that I ate a big burrito and I kept thinking I'm only suppose to be eating liquids your already messing up. So I think there is just a fear of failure. I had a revision from the band and so far things are much better.

I had that dream all the time before surgery.  I dreamed almost every night leading up to surgery that I had eaten a bunch and gulped down an entire soda and then remembered that I'd had surgery.  Then I would panic that my stomach was going to.... explode.... or something?

Definitely an anxiety dream!   I haven't heard of anyone gaining ALL their weight back, but I have definitely heard of people gaining 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 back.  We must be careful once we reach maintenance....always vigilant.

When I was in school, I was horrible at Math. 12 years later, I still have dreams I am flunking geometry in high school. Sometimes I dream I still live in this crappy little closet bedroom I used to have when I was 11 (live in my own house with hubby and cats.) I think this happens when we change for the better and we are afraid of regressing back to where we were before.

A dream like this is not unusual.  You have probably spent a lot of time thinking about this surgery (as you should!) and have also worried about this big "what if".

As far as anyone gaining back their weight, well, yes.  I have heard of a LOT of folks who have gained weight back.  The majority only gain a few lbs.  I currently weigh 10 lbs more than my lowest weight.  Then again, my lowest weight was 117 (I'm 5'4") which gave me a pretty low BMI-- I needed to gain a little bit back.

I've seen a few folks who have gained back a larger amount.  I've only heard of one or two who gained back all of their weight.  One big factor that makes a difference is if a woman has PCOS.  From what I've seen, it makes weight loss much more difficult.  I can't remember if the couple of women that come to mind who gained back a significant amount of weight both had PCOS, but I know at least one of them did.

So bottom line is-- yes it's possible to gain back all of your weight, but it's not likely.  It all depends on how committed you are to making the lifestyle changes you need to in order to be healthy, but other health issues can also play a role.
