I am new here to this web sight but I am 7 months out from my sleeve and have lost 70 pds. The trouble is I find myself wanting to "graze" on food thru out the day. I am an emotional eater and find my self eating just because i'm bored. Any thoughts or suggestions any one is willing to throw my way??

Hi! I am 16 months out and too am an emotional eater -
I have found that trying to keep my hands busy seems to be helpful - be it doing my nails, crossword puzzles, sudokus, going for a walk - the hardest is at work when i get stressed , i sometimes will run out for a quick walk if that is not allowed i.e. already used up my break time i try just scribbling on a pad either something inspirational to remind myself , or why i am pissed, stressed, etc at the moment - oh and i also use whitening strips on my teeth , if those are in my mouth i can't eat - hope some of these are helpful !

I know what you mean,  it is difficult not to let those things happen. Right now I find having lots of protein rich foods on had is best.  Things that are sleeve friendly and drink, drink, drink,  to fill the void.  At least if you are eating out of boredom it is protein.

I am a little scared of summer coming when I am out of school and there will be more time to kill each day and am worried I will fill it up with food.

I guess I will find how strong I am at that time.

Good luck with this,  hope you get some good ideas that I can borrow too.

Hi and welcome.  I don't really have any words of advice, this is something i struggle with myself.  Just try to make good choices and like Shari said, if you graze, try to make sure its with protein  :o) Jeani

Hi, thanks for posting this, I'm having a similar problem!

I'm 9 days out and am having a problem at night. During the day, I have to force myself to eat anything. I am SO not hungry. It's easy to take one bite, wait a minute, then another, etc. Taking 15 minutes to finish 1/4 cup.

Then at night, I have my standard 1/4 cup of cream soup or whatever, and it's like I have to stop myself from inhaling it. Then an hour later, I'm hungry again, and have another serving!

I think I'm probably not getting enough protein in. And maybe I'm spacing my meals out too far during the day.  Don't know what else it could be.

I thought that right after surgery, you weren't supposed to be hungry at all!!!!!

Same here. The surgeon operated on our stomachs, not our brains. I find it is boredom for me. I try to keep with protein or 100 cal. snacks but I still have to watch the bite here, a bite there....
