Having VSG

Hello, I am having a VSG and was wondering what kind of weight loss everyone had for the first 6-8 months. I go on May 30. Just trying to set myself some reasonable goals. I know everyone is slightly different. I was wondering at what month the weight loss really slowed down.

Every answer WILL vary!  Men lose faster than women....heavyweights (or in my case super heavy weight!)......lose faster than lightweights...etc....etc.   My advice to you is to never compare or expect the same results as anyone else.  But in general VSG  is similar to RNY  as far as WL goes.  Like everything else YMMV!

ETA:  My WL slowed significantly at the 1 year point.....but at over 19 months I am still losing!  Slowly but surely now!

JIMBO...  350lbs! lost!.....  TRIPLE CENTURY CLUB!!  HELL ...YEAH!

Thanks for the info. I don't really want to compare myself to others I was looking for more things like the 3 week stall that I read about on here today. That sort of thing. That way I can keep myself from getting on myself about the almighty # on the scale. I know the first couple of months you are so focused on protein and how to eat that the pounds lost are easy to track in your clothes. Especially at first when people notice the quick weight loss. I am glad it is comparable with the RNY. I know several that have had the RNY and DS but none have had just the VSG.
Thanks again.

I think my loss has been fairly typical....I've lost 86 pounds in 7 months....when you look at averages, it's important to see the percentage of body weight lost, not just raw numbers.

Since excess weight has controlled the lives of so many WLS patients, too many people tranfer the food obsession to diet obsession, and I think both perspectives are unhealthy. Keep your life rules simple, remember you can control what you consume with this amazing tool, and get used to losing weight. Don't waste your time comparing your statistics to everyone else....there's always going to be someone losing more and someone losing less.
