I was sleeved at 11am Tuesday, and by 9pm I was walking the whole floor at my hospital. By Wednesday noon I was making laps. Got home yesterday and today went grocery shopping with my wife. So I'm walking a lot. Actual exercise will wait until I am a bit more healed and not so sore.

I walked same day of op, just slow and not much. Been walking ever since, exercising gently makes you heal faster and gives you energy and makes you feels good! ;)

I was up as soon as I got back to my room, all night at intervals and until they released me about noon.

I walked frequently around the inside of my house, had my husband wake me up for fluids and walking in the night for a few more days.  Then started small walks around my neighborhood at about 4 days out.  Couple days after that, I was back to a mile and a half.  Last Sunday I walked 4 miles.  I am cleared for exercise machines and 5 pound weighs for my arms as of two weeks.  Ab work at 4 weeks.

Walking is vital as it prevents Deep Vein Thrombosis which is very dangerous.. You will be encouraged to walk as soon as possible after your op,
Swimming I have to wait till my follow up at 6 weeks out.although I feel fine to do it

Ohhh GOOD!  I have my surgery May 23rd, and fly to Colorado to see my daughter and her family June 29th, so maybe I can look forward to losing about 20 pounds before I get there! :)

They had me up and walking as soon as possible.  Helped to get rid of the leftover gas in my abdomen from the laproscopic surgery, as well as keep from developing blood clots.  I walked as often as I was awake the first day, and once the IV pain meds were switched to oral meds, I went for a walk 1/2 hour after each pain pill.  That way it didn't hurt, and I could go a little further each time.
