Just wanted to update you guys that had suggested alternatives to smoking cigarettes and after consulting with my surgeon I found out that I am not allowed to use the vapor cigarettes, nicotine gum or consume nicotine in any fashion as it will create an inoperable ulcer. So guess I will have to suffer. Once I make it through this rough patch I'll be healthier in the end for it all

Yes, you will. Will your surgeon allow you to take Chantix to help? It has no nicotine...

I quit smoking when I was 30.  I used the patch for the first two days and at the end of the third day I realized I'd forgotten to put it on.  But I didn't notice any difference.

But, I smoked a low nicotine cigarette (Marlboro Ultra Lights) and I think I was more addicted to the act than the nicotine.  But, if you smoke a higher nicotine cigarette, it might help to wean yourself down to a low one.

Good luck!!

Just a tip Ultra light is not lower nicotine but just a lower level taste. It is no better then Marlboro Reds. I quit cold turkey and it was ruff for about a month. Its worth every minute of misery to feel as good as i do now.

You can use vapor cigarettes if you get the no nicotine filter....with me I have discovered it is more the habit of having it in my hand and taking the drag than it is the actual niotine. Just a thought wouldnt hurt to try!
