After surgery- how long were you down?

We're trying to pick a surgery date and it looks like I can so do sometimes around May 20th BUT my husband will be going out of the country 2.5 weeks later. I'm curious at what point your felt well enough to be alone?

I'm mostly concerned about not being able to feed the animals, scoop the littler box, drag waterhoses around the yard...all those things that he'd do if I were unable.

Also wondering how many days until you went back to a desk job?

Thanks!

I was alone 2 days after surgery and then alone with my 2 babies (8 weeks old and 17 months old) on day 4.  You'll be shocked how fast you heal.  I felt 100% on day 5.  I'm now almost 3 weeks out and have been doing everything for about the last 2 weeks.  Good luck!!

My husband was deployed to Yemen when I had my surgery...I was alone other than a drive to and from the hospital.  I could have returned to work in 8 days, however I had to have a note to return and my Dr said I had to be out 2 weeks.  You will be fine!! I promise!!!

Surgery on a Saturday; flew from San Antonio, Texas to Columbus, Ohio the following Tuesday; back to work @ my home office on Wednesday.  A little tired for a couple weeks -- just took it easy.

If you chill for the 2.5 weeks he's home you'll be good to go when he leaves.

How long will be be out of the country?  He might see an amazing difference when he gets back!  What fun!!!

i had my surgery on April 13 and it was about a wee****il I could be on my own. Luckily my hubby took the week off to help. Here it is the 25th and I can pretty much do what i need to (i.e) feed the dogs ,do laundry)  Good luck to you .

I was up and doing household chores the day after I got out of the hospital. I was going out to the movies 4 days afterwards. I went to Disneyland 7 days after surgery. I felt awesome but it all depends on the person. All I recommend is get up and walk as much as you can after surgery that helps with the healing process. Hope this helps! By the way I didn't have anyone with me at home I am a single Mother of three, and if I can do it so can you!

Hi,
I had my surgery the 20th last wed. I could of took care of my self. My husband was here to take care of the chickens, that would be a little hard for me, but I still have the drain in. My dog and cat would of been no problem. I have self feeders for everything even the chickens, self water. When I get the staples out and drain plug, I think I can do every thing. Today is my 4th day. With Gods help I have had a great recovery. I would ask my Dr about doing the heavy stuff just to make sure.
God Bless you
Evie

I'm two weeks out as of tomorrow and am for the most part back to my normal self. I'm able to tidy the house, do a little laundry without being completely exhausted. I just got my little bulldog back yesterday and am able to walk him. I wasn't able to take care of him before.

I wouldn't be comfortable lifting much yet. I still take it easy because I want to focus on healing.

I'm going back to work tomorrow. While I have a desk job, it's usually pretty hectic and stressful so I'm not sure I'll have the energy for a complete day.

For the first week I was in pretty rough shape and was not able to do anything but sleep, sip and walk a bit.

Good luck with your surgery!

If you can drag the hose I bet you'll be fine. I'm one week out and I could do any of those things except I'm on a lifting limit. You might find yourself making extra trips and carrying a little less per trip, but other than that I'll bet you'll be just fine.

I am 19 days out and feeling great.   Worked in the yard today, pulling weeds.  Can do light housework, laundry.   That said, my DH does most everything for me and I am enjoying the pampering.
What are your Dr.'s restrictions?  I can't lift over 20# for 4 weeks, could not drive for 2 weeks, no lawn mowing for 4 weeks, etc.
I would have been fine being left alone early on, especially 2.5 weeks out.   My only hangup was the driving!
