Does everyone get a Drain? I was just wondering if this is normal I am preop and wondering what to expect?

I did not get a drain...not sure what is involved in the decision-making.

My surgery isn't until May 23rd, but my doctor told me that I would have neither a drain or a cath.

I didn't have a drain.

I did have a pain pump line that I had to remove on the third day, but it was very easy to remove.

There are many things that are totally your surgeon's preference.  The drain is one of them.  So are bowel prep and catheters.  Get details from your surgeon, along with details of what kind of pain control and nausea control they'll have available.

No drain for me.

Surgeon said he doesn't use them and I was fine with that.

I did, took it out at my 1 week post op appointment.  It was no big deal, and didn't bother me.
