"Well, if you can't handle the preop, you shouldn't have the surgery..."

The simple reply....Pre-op CANNOT be compared to Post-op in regards to the ability to "control" ourselves.  AFTER surgery one can only eat a small amt and  hunger is GREATLY reduced (or if your lucky it goes away completely).  Good luck on your journey!

I think if you're willing to make SOME changes pre-op and at least TRY, then you'll definitely be able to handle the post op. There is NO FREAKING WAY pre-op you'll be able to eat the way you'll eat post op. 600-800 calories? You'd be starving, LOL. However, doing things like cutting out soda, carbs and upping your protein are fantastic habits to get into pre-surgery. I was able to lose 60 pounds pre-surgery by doing exactly those things.

It's HARD work without the surgery. It will be easier after surgery but it's still work. You'll be fine. I think you understand exactly what you need to do.

I am so scared too.  I get sleeved on Monday and I have had a terribly hard time with the pre op.  The mornings are easy but later in the day....I am starving.  I have been not eating near as much.  I am so nervous and having doubts in my self.  However, I have tried all kinds of diets and I do them and then gain the weight back.  In my mind, I know I am doing the right thing.  I just don't want to fail at anything else concerning my weight, so I feel your pain!!  LoL

Good luck, girl.  Keep the faith.

You can do this. We are all human and we are not perfect. You are doing the correct thing by cutting out some stuff that you don't need (ie soda) and trying to incorporate other things (ie water). You will fall down, but you will get up because you have the correct mind frame to do this. Trust me, I had to do a 6 week liquid pre-op diet (optifast) and if I got through that, I know that you can make it!!!! I have faith in you!

Awww! That's why I LOVE this forum... No one belittled me or tried to beat me down for being HUMAN! Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the love and the encouragment. I feel like it's time to go forth and DO THE DANG THANG!! Now, I just need my surgery date to get here! LOL

Thanks again....

Baby steps.  Especially now, cuz once you're sleeved up it's a huge leap lol.

I weaned myself off of my favorite stuff the month leading up to surgery, Monster drinks, soda, fried foods (mostly), pizza...I was not perfect and I did make bad choices, but I lost about 15 pounds during the pre-op process.

I was more afraid of failure than something going wrong with the surgery/my body.  Do the best you can, take small steps, and even if you slip back keep moving forward.  It'll be alright.

Let me tell you, at 4 weeks post op I am so scared I will hurt myself that I have NO problem staying on the required diet.  LOL.  I don't know how people get brave enough to try this or that, because the thought of a peice of chicken scares the **** out me right now.  Nevermind other stuff!  I do get hungry, but I hope that will calm down.  I don't really have an appetite, which helps.  I just eat to get rid of the hungry feeling.  Or I have a shake.
