From Newbie To Veterans: How often to measure/photodocument?
Early out I weighed myself daily and took photos to monitor the progress every month.
Since I've been at goal for almost a year I weigh once a week to monitor myself. I take pictures all the time now since I'm so much more active.
Taking pictures to gauge your progress is very effective and motivational.

Thanks so much for all of your thoughtful responses everyone-- I appreciate hearing all of the different perspectives out there and using your ideas along with my own mind-bugginess to come up with what works well for me. I think that for me it's going to be a bit of a balancing act between what I know is healthier for my mind/body (possibly weekly weigh-ins) rather than what my *wanting* center is going to be screaming at me (daily weights or more than once per day).
I guess I'm just going to play it by ear to see what works well for me as I'm going to be doing this for the long haul (and so glad I have the opportunity to do it!).
Fit_after 50: That's my total weight lost, I started my ticker at my highest weight during the pre-op process because I consider that diet to be part of the weight lost during this whole process. The day before surgery I think I weighed 245.6lbs and this morning I was 235.6, so ten pounds since last Tuesday 5/10.
OldMedic: LOL-- I made my boyfriend take pictures of me the night before surgery from the front, the rear and the side, both clothed and just wearing undies. I thought about taking naked photos for comparison's sake but agreed that it'd be just a bit too much skin on the photo for my comfort!
Again, thank you all and good luck to everyone out there!!

I do weight daily, but have learned not to let the scale rock my world.
I measure and take photos from the front, back and side monthly - and have found this to be VERY helpful during the inevitable stalls and periods of slow weight loss. I usually do see a change month-to-month in the photos and it is really encouraging! I enlisted my 10 year old daughter as my photographer and she likes being part of the process!
