Second Pre-Op Clinical Appt
OK, that was interesting. Highlights:
1) NUT said 70 g protein, 75 g carbs, low fat. Hmm.... Carbs seemed high to me, and she said it was an upper limit, I was welcome to go lower. Written instructions said no caffeine FOR LIFE. I was like, WTH? She said it was only a "goal" and a little caffeine after 3 months post op was okay, but to make sure I could get all my water in. Otherwise, the guidelines were very much in line with what I hear on this board.
2) Physician's Assistant was fantastic. Told me I would never have all of the data I might want to eliminate the uncertainty. That it would require a leap of faith. This was very comforting somehow.
3) Need cardiac clearance (only because of my age!) and upper GI. Yuck. Wasn't expecting that.
Still scared, but putting one foot in front of the other.
I'm sure you'll do fine. I had just turend 60 the month before my surgery and i just wanted to give you these links. They should have all the data you might need. Good luck this is by far the best thing i ever did for me :o) jeani
