Taste of Coke
I was a Cola and Mt. Dew addict. I tried it, just sips several times after surgery. They both had a very funny taste. They kind of tasted like I was only drinking the carbonated part without the syrup. Very strange, but I was glad to not enjoy them anymore. Warning, the taste returns to normal, at least it did for me. I have to watch it because they have always been such a downfall for me. The good thing is, they still make my stomach feel bad if I have more than a sip, so I try to just stay away from them all together. Best of luck to you!
I was a coke(cola) addict for years I would drink atleast 4 cans a day I drank coke all the way up to the day before my surgery..I do not crave it at all..Infact I did taste it about a month out and it didnt taste the same..i am thankful for this, because I know the soda pop was alot of my weight problem.I do love Simply Lemonade which does have sugars in it, but I drink it in moderation.
At almost three years out, let me warn you strongly: As time goes by, you probably will regain your taste for Coke. STAY AWAY FROM IT!! Do not play with sugar and junk carbs, because eating them will cause you to crave more of the same.
About a year and a half ago, I had to have spinal surgery (nothing WLS related), and I ended up in the hospital and a nursing home for over a month, then was house-bound for another three months. During that time, I lost an enormous amount of weight. The doctor told me to put the weight back on any way I could. I was fed junk carbs and given Cokes in the nursing home. Well. When I got home, I still had weight to gain back, and friends brought me ice cream, candy, Cokes ... you name it. Now, a year later, I am 20 pounds overweight again and struggling with all my might to get the sugar and junk carbs out of my diet again. It is sooooo hard!!!
Do not play with fire. It just isn't worth it.
Best wishes on your journey :-)

Yup. Tried a sip around a month out, spit it out. Horrible. A month ago was at the barber shop with my son, forgot my water at home, he got a soda and I took a sip, still horrible.
The only way I can stand coke is to mix a little with crown to take the whiskey bit out of it.
Strangely enuff I have grown to LOVE sugar free red bulls, I drink a few of them a day and actually like the taste. Hated them before. I guess I missed my caffeine rush lol.
