Husband just one hour of surgery - quick question need fast answer!

Poor dear, it is hard to see someone else go through it.  I just have to say that you and I are in the same boat. My hubby was sleeved Thursday and he is home and doing okay.  His pain is good but he is nauseated and doesn't want to drink. I didn't have that so I feel alittle useless.  I keep pushing him to drink but so far today he has only gotten about 7oz in.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for both our hubbys!!

Damn, that's tough. Have you explained to him that dehydration can not only make nausea worse, it can land him back in hospital, hooked up to IVs again?

If he won't drink on his own, you may need to play Nurse Ratchet. Set your phone's alarm for every 15 mins... when it goes off he has take a 1oz sip of water, diluted juice, etc. He needs to take in fluids just as much as he needs.to stick to his pain management regimen; its crucial for healing without complications.

I wasn't allowed anything by the mouth for 48 hours. I also had the drain for 48 hours and the did the leak test after 48 hours. I wasn't hungry or thirsty during that time because I was pumped with iv fluids. My throat never hurt; I didn't even think about that until I read this post...lol. Maybe I was just clued out at the time lol.
