There are new long term studies out now indicating that losing the pyloris valve can cause weight regain in the rny so i would say this is a better option.  Keeping a fully functioning stomach and not messing with the internal plumbing were two very big pluses in my mind for the sleeve  :o) jeani

I'm having surgery soon and had to quit as well.  I have enjoyed smoking for a long time. Reality is that, I want this surgery MORE than anything. I just stopped cold turkey. It is hard but it can be done. You can do it. Good Luck to you.

One thing I told my daughter is this is the only time you can quit smoking and lose weight so take full advantage of it.  She quit smoking in February and had her sleeve done the end of March, I am very proud of her.  She has lost around 47 lbs.

We had ours together and both very happy with it.  I have lost 33 lbs but I don't have as much to lose so it comes off a little more slowly.

Good Luck to you on both accounts, I quit cold turkey 17 years ago and am so glad I did.

I have not had the surgery yet, still jumping through the insurance hoops..but I quit back in August in anticipation for the surgery...it will be wonderful to be healthier all around......lighter and a non smoker...

I was going to try and get the lap band, but their are too many complications and the weight comes off so slow. I am almost 30, and we would like another child sometime in the future (of course after my 1 year wait period) so I really need the weight to come off faster so I can be a healty weight next time we have a kiddo)

Best of luck with you decision =)
