I gave it up in the beginning,  maybe like a couple of months.......now I have it everyday just like before.  I like my morning coffee.  I count it in with my fluids.

 It depends on the Dr, and some people disregard that too.   My Dr said never again with the caffeine or alcohol, I am fine with it.  I was not a big drinker before anyway, so that helps me.  It doesn't appear to hurt anyone in moderation.  Moderation in all things is the key.  But I would wait for a while before you do start again, personally.

I'm with mylastchance, I gave it up for a couple months after surgery - to help my tummy heal - then went back full speed.  After 4 months or so, I had a major stomach acid flare-up, and switched to caffeine free (although caffeine-free also has acid, what I probably really need is a lower acid coffee, but oh well).

In one of the many posts, or books, or blogs, or whatever, that I read up on, someone said to put down the coffee a few weeks before surgery, so that I wouldn't have to cope with the withdrawal headache, along with everything else, during recovery. I thought that was great advice, so that's what I did.

Good luck with your upcoming date, we'll welcome you to the loser's bench.

I drank decaf after one week and regular after 4 weeks. I only have one cup in the morning for now. I used to drink a whole pot.

From what I see on here there are many successful people who drink coffee. I do now. Dr Oz says it helps prevent Gallstones!

"Hey, waiter! Come here just a mo!
This coffee is awful, you know?
It tastes just like mud!"
Said he, "Figures, bud;
It was ground just ten minutes ago!"

  If it feels good, do it!  And if it smells good, eat it!

I drank Community dark roast 24 7 before surgery and post op, i switched to community decaf(which was difficult at first) but I drink at the very least a pot a day. Many days it is two pots. i put one or two packets of splenda in the pot to cut the bitterness then add 1-2 ounces of skim milk. After 1 pot I have a good part of my liquids in and about 10 grams of protein from the milk alone....and I get to drink my coffee....I'd be lost without it...
