Yeah I think it's possible.  Me: 320 to 175 and still losing

Basic answer is Yes it is very possible.

I lost 190lbs.

338 to 148

But I honestly have to tell you it is not easy. Desire, commitment and compliance are a big part. You have to do your part and lifestyle changes.

The other thing to understand that all VSG's are not created equal.

Find a surgeon that has a history, statistics and success working with SMO. Losing the weight is part 1..... Maintaining is part 2....

My surgeon makes a tight 32f sleeve with a very high success rate both in weight loss and maintenance.

I just felt the need to be real with you. The quick answer is "yes" it's possible. The other reality is that there is success and failures with all WLS with any surgeon and program.

Hope this helps.

I'm not quite there yet, but I'm positive I'll reach a loss of 180.  It's totally doable if you stay pretty close to plan and keep your head in the game!

Good luck and keep us all posted on your progress!  You'll find people on OH really care.

Just to echo a few of the other posters, I've lost 138 lbs. in 6.5 mos. and I'm the old geezer of the group at 65.  I exercise every day, eat a high-protein, well-balanced diet, and have made a commitment to "working the program" every day.  I've got 35 lbs. more to lose to make my (first) goal, but that will be....."cake."   For me, the best part of the VSG is the normalcy - wifey and I now eat about 90% the exact same diet - I just eat a lot less of everything.  Good luck.

Thats so great to hear. The vsg just seems to fit so perfectly into what I've been looking for in wls. I still want to keep that normalcy as far as food choices and lifestyle goes. Of course, healthier food and lifestyle choices, but I don't want to feel like I can't eventually just sit with family and enjoy a meal either. Thanx so much to everyone for sharing with me your experiences!

I don't know what "norms" are but check out my ticker, there are several folks on here who have exceeded my results and maintained for at least a couple of years.

Good luck with your surgery, whatever you decide hun : )
I'm in around 360ish or a bit more -- and having a sleeve.
My surgeon's goal for me is 140 to 150 lbs.
So it is possible, and achievable!
All the best to you!

I had surgery on Apr 19 2010 I started at 594lbs... this mornning i was 230lbs. that is aloss of 364lbs.. So it is possible. The Dr try ed to talk me into RNY but i said i wanted the VSG. I could always revise later if i didn't get the results i wanted from the sleeve.. So i have another 10 lbs to loss to get to my goal of 220.Life is good.....
