2 SLEEVES UNDER ONE ROOF - MISSION COMPLETE
I had VSG on March 14th and my husband finally had his done on June 20th. It was touch and go over the weekend with him trying to talk himself out of it. I felt like it was my job to tell him how wonderful my experience had been and how good I was beginning to feel, but ultimately it had to be his decision. So, for fear of being called a "wuss" specifically by me, he jumped in with both feet. He's done a lot better than I did, but they gave him dilaudid in recovery which basically put him totally out for the first 24 hours. He missed most of the pain and by the next day was only feeling the soreness. Sucks for me. Oh well - he is paddling his way through his first 3 weeks of clear liquids only, while I am eating out of sight, mainly because I know how it feels when someone is eating in front of you and all you can have is something to wet your throat. Not fun. Once he's over his 6 weeks, things should be so much easier in the house, especially for me. There won't be anymore of us going to Whataburger, him ordering a double meat with cheese when all I can have is half of grilled chicken sandwich with mustard without the bun. We'll be splitting that bunless grilled chicken sandwich from now on.
Life is good!
I'm soooo excited about both of us having the sleeve, mainly because for once we'll be on the same page with food. For the past four years I;ve felt like I'm the one who starts the diet or exercise routine and I have to be strong enough for both of us when I wasn't even strong enough for myself. I can't wait for the day when we can go to a restaurant and split a healthy meal and still have leftovers to take home! YIppee!!
It's good to know there are other households out there with two sleeves! Thanks for the post!
