why can't I just stop at one?? does anyone else have this problem?? LONG
First....get this....I'm on your side and I want to see you do well.....
That said..the worst thing I can do is say "Ahh...don't worry about it....It happens"
I'm gonna say this....the second six months still can be very effective...it is much harder than the first for many.
Two things happen.... your body gets used to things and weight loss gets harder....The second....people start to get lax and start adding questionable foods and amounts. The bad habits that got you/us fat start coming back.....
- What do you mean you can't stop at one???? Shows lack of commitment.
- Where does it say you can eat those things after goal? Yah don't know till you get there and stabilize and see where your tolerances are..... I'm seven months at a stabilized weight.... and I can't eat six choco chip cookies. And believe me I've tried to push the envelope.
- Your daughter bakes... I often have to hire catering/craft services to entertain/feed clients and crew. Tables full of Hot entrees, cookies, brownies, chips, candy, pastries, sandwiches..... I pay the $500 and eat a little chicken or fish and a bag of trail mix.
You might not like hearing this.....but the reality is....if you can't get this under control now....your problems have the potential of being multiplied farther out when your gonna really need the discipline and good sound habits.
It's all you from here on out.... If you gotta get some professional therapy.....now would be a good time. You want to enter maintenance at a stable good place.
Sorry I couldn't give some magic sugar coated answer..... but it is what it is.
Your weight loss and your work outs are quite admirable..... don't self sabotage... leave some room for when something in your life that really matters happens to go off plan....
Hope this helps you in some way.

"Lack of commitment" you say. Ouch, that hurt. Maybe, IDK.

Thanks for your honest reply as always. Hugs........Jennifer
Hey Jennifer,
I re-read my post from 6AM this morning....errrr last nite.....cause I stayed up to watch a live feed to a motorcycle race in Europe....
I do have to apologize for the wording in my post..... your one of the good ones and I've enjoyed following your progress.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that in maintenance there is a whole host of new challenges and getting that cookie thing (as an example) under control is gonna be big......we tend to get to goal and relax a bit because that's what were told.... the truth is......yes it can be easier than losing....but there are far few motivations and slipping is very easy.
Were all in this for the long haul and losing the weight is gonna mean nothing if we gain it back....maybe it's just my fear to my reality and I was over sensitive.
Again apologies for being heavy handed !

It also depends on what kind of eater you are. I personally believe volume eaters have something of an easier time than emotional stuffers, like me, since all they need is the restriction of not being able to eat a lot . You're never going to be able to have "just one" of anything, particularly trigger or slider foods. So, you make a choice: either keep them out of the house or don't touch them. My daughter also loves to bake and my husband has a mad sweet tooth, so I'm surrounded as well. The sleeve, if you're lucky, keeps you from having that appetitie, or from having it stimulated by the smells and sights of this stuff. That's what makes the choice of leaving it alone or keeping it out of the house a little easier. However, once you put it in your mouth, it makes it much harder. When you get to goal weight, you can debate whether or not you can handle a cookie or a piece of cake here and there.
You're doing great, your loss is fantastic, so you've been doing the right thing for yourself.. Just keep your head int he game and y our eyes on the prize. Good luck.
This Youtube video is very long but I learned a lot about sugar. It's bad stuff.

The link is to the book The Thin Commandments, which Brandilynn recommends. Lots of it is helpful, but the part that really hit home with me is about the facts that some foods are never one serving for me - it's always 3 or 4 or 5 servings. Just like you and the sweets. The book discusses "boxing in" and "boxing out" those types of foods. Basically, boxing them out of your life completely or boxing them in and allowing them only at very specific times/events/places. It's an easy and good read and may help with your issue!
