3 Days Post - Op

Hi,

This is my first post, but I am 3 days post-op. I'm feeling pretty beat up, but I am able to walk and finally can lay in bed comfortably (took a shower too, hooray!). I just wanted some advice/ help - all of the commercials for food are driving me insane. Does anyone have anything that helped them through the first two weeks especially. I think I will have an easier time once I have more variety, but right now I am going slightly crazy.

I'm glad you're on the mend and feeling better.
I didn'****ch TV for the first week or so -- and it doesn't seem to bother me now (I'm 17 days out).
I'm never hungry, and have to remind myself to eat based on what time it is.  If I go empty, I'm nauseous.
Maybe just play a game, or read -- or go online... instead of TV if it's making you crazy.  There are so many ads for junky foods.  Out of sight, out of mind.

Good luck in your journey!

4 days out for me and the commercial for the McRib sandwich is making me crazy .. I'm finding that I'm craving texture (mostly protein) and flavour .. I've been on liquids for almost a month now and I've got another week to 10 days before I can get some texture/flavour back .. it's tough .. try to record things on TV if you can and then fast forward through the commercials!?

Agree with carly. I don'****ch much TV either and try to keep occupied with things that help me stick to plan such as this website. It will get better as time goes by. My wife has whole bunches of carb heavy stuff in the kitchen that I used to scarf down but now I can go by them without a second look. be sure and stick to your plan (usually smaller more frequent meals) and once the full button pops up you will have no desire for food. Physical activity helps too to get your mind off food. hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. I know that it is the head hunger - my body isn't hungry at all. It's a struggle for me to even get enough liquid down, it's just that the head is what I am having the most troube with. My surgeon is one of (if not the only) in the state of NJ that doesnt make you fast/do a liquid diet before surgery. I was told to stop eating and drinking at midnight the day of my surgery, so it was a food fest until then. Now that I am starting to feel better, I'll definitely be on the computer more, and I never even thought to use the DVR! Thank you for that idea. I live a pretty active lifestyle, between working full time and going to classes, and I picked up a personal trainer two years ago - and I cannot wait to see that womans face again.(I couldn't get my head straight with the eating, I figured since I was working out, I would eat more because I was exherting more enegry, hence why I kept the weight on)

I am just so bored.

Thank goodness I found this website though, even though I just joined, I have read through a lot of forum posts that have answered my questions and seen a lot of before and after pictures that give me hope.
