I should have specified that in addition to just having a hard time getting it in, I'm having MAJOR lower GI issues. This is the reason for cutting fat, fiber and dairy at this point.

I'm SO NOT concerned with counting any of this. I'm just trying to survive, you know?

thanks so much for your comments, I totally agree :)

The suggestions made above are good ones, but I would add that avocado and hummus may not be good choices at this time, unless you add some unflavored protein powder to your food. Yes, hummus does have some protein, but not enough at the current time. There are better protein choices. Unflavored protein can be added to soups, tuna, cottage cheese, SF puddings, Greek yogurt, etc. In other words, protein can be added to just about anything. You may just have to have advance your diet more slowly. I had to. It is very important to maximize your protein and fluids at this point in time. Eggs are difficult for many people and I couldn't eat them, until I was much further out.

Thanks catlover,
I bought some unflavored protein last night and plan on putting it into any and everything from now on!

Thank you!

I use the protein powder in pureed cream of potato soup, or skip the purre but chew the litlle chunks carefully.  It mixed well.  For flavor i added pepper and garlic and onion pwder.  It was the first thing taht really tasted good to me and a break from all of the sweet stuff!  Also yogurt and sf pudding mix well with the powder.  I like soups with the powder mixed in.  Campbell tomato bisque works well with it and any cream soup I tried.  Wet tuna is good- we are allowed to use low fat mayo- but I need to take it slow.  Chicken in the food processor with some cream soup is good too.

Sleeve sister Could_It_Be!  We're pretty much in the same boat on this.  I've tried some of the pureed items on my NUT list (tuna, egg, chicken) but able to eat so little that I'm getting hardly anything in.  And after I eat, I can't drink for what seems like forever!  Everything is just stuck!  So I've reverted back to more liquids.  Some protein shakes (so sick of them!), really thinned out soups and other purees.

Also having GI issues.  Diarrhea yesterday, better today.  Lots of intestinal gas.  Oh well.  It's gonna get better!!  (right?)

Basically my phase 2 was that I could eat anything my stomach could tolerate as long as I got in my protein requirements. My surgeon is a little more liberal than most in that department but I try to stay with 40 gram carb 100 gram protein and 600-800 calolries.
