15 mths postop..my restriction
Just for those who have wondered how much a person can eat over a year postop..
Keep in mind that all sleeves are not created equal!
I am sure amounts vary from person to person. Today I made boneless pork chops and salad for lunch. I measured mine..I ate only 2oz of pork chops..and 3 bites of salad and that was all i could fit. I am thankful that it takes so little to satisfy / fill me. There are times i definitely would like to eat more..but on those occasions I just tell myself that i can have more...just on another day.

Thanks for sharing this! It's both encouraging & scary. Encouraging because the restriction stays for so long and scary because it's hard to get in protein and nutrients for me right now.
How many calories do you eat per day? Grams protein? Carbs?
Thanks!

i eat around 800 calories a day...60 grams of protein. I don't count carbs..but I can eat so little that I primarily eat protein. My nutritionist never mentioned any specific amounts as far as carbs go.
I was told by my nutritionist to eat every couple hours, because my restriction is so great..that way I can get in my protein for the day with food, and not worry about protein drinks.

Thanks for the update. I am a year out and I think my restriction is about the same. However, carbs definitely go down much easier. Are you still losing? I haven't lost anything since about 9 months out, however, I am also so close to my set goal. How much are you losing now? What are your calories, carbs, protein targets? Thanks for any info you can pass along.
oh carbs definitely go down much easier! Yes..I'm still losing. I have been losing about 4-5 lbs a mth...but because I'm happy where I'm at..I will eat some foods I know I shouldn't..and gain a few lbs back..then I lose them again. I weigh daily..and if i go up 3 lbs I immediately get back to what i know i should be doing..and lose those 3 lbs..and usually 2 extra also. I know I can continue losing that 4-5 lbs a month with no problem if I stick to the protein only..and don't sneak in some carbs..or calories from drinks. I'm just very happy and comfortable where I'm at..and if I only lose another 2 lbs a month..but can continue w/how I am eating now..I'm great with that.
I obviously can eat more if it isn't dense protein. If i eat cottage cheese..i can eat about 1/2 cup for a meal. This morning I made 1 egg..scrambled..on top of a 1/2 piece of toast..I ate 1/2 of that and was completely satisfied. Like i said..everyone is different though. This is just me..so don't let it scare you. I am sure there are others that are 15 mths out who can eat a little more..and there is nothing wrong with that. Depends on bougie size, length of stomach..etc..
i just wanted to give an example of how my restriction is :)

Thank you for sharing this info. Because I have just been revised from a 7 yr old failed lapband one of my greatest fears is that this sleeve is going to stretch too much. I am ecstatic to read that 1 yr out you can still only get down 2 oz. of solid protein. This is my wish also. I am 4 weeks out and can definitely tell of course that I can eat more of the softer foods. For example at lunch today I had about 2/3 of a cup of brunswick stew. It has lots of shredded meat in it but because it was also in a tomato type broth I was able to get 2/3 of a cup down. I actually feel better when I can eat a little more and the calorie count on the stew was rather low but 10 grams of protein so I hope that is okay.
Thanks for sharing. I haven't been 140 lbs. since 6th grade and prior to getting my sleeve I would have bet all my money that I would never see under 170 but now that I feel what the sleeve can do for me I am starting to have a glimmer of hope that I may actually see 140 again. I am 5'5".
Your progress is awesome!
