Does Milk count as carbs?

So quick question. I always see posts about how many carbs a day is good etc. I see figures like 30 or 40. Do these numbers include carbs from milk used for the protien shakes. It would suck if it did because there is quite a bit of carbs in milk. Thanks for the answer.

If it's a carb you're consuming, it counts.  When you log a protein shake on MyFitnessPal, you enter the powder, then the milk (or soy milk) and that will give you your total carb count for that shake.

That's why I usually mixed mine with water, but recently switched to soy milk as I typically keep my carbs low at every other meal.

Wow - So basically everyone is doing NO carb. 2 shakes and I will use up my carbs for the day. I thought I remember my nutritionist saying milk didn't count as a carb. Maybe I misunderstood. Oh well. Soy is not an option for me as I have done research on it and surprisingly it is not the health food everyone thinks it is. Actually its not healthy at all for you. Oh well. Not the answer I wanted to hear, but I guess sometimes the truth hurts.

Almond milk works great and you don't even taste the difference in a protein shake.  Very good substitution.

And yes.....milk is full of carbs (lactose sugar).  The lower the fat content...the more sugar.

One, not everyone is doing low or no carb. Two, there is a low carb milk available. It's made by hood, has 35 cals, no fat, and 4 carbs per 8 oz.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Soy slender vanilla soy milk made by westsoy. It is sooo good and only has 1 net carb and 70 cals per cup. I order it from netrition.com.
