Cardiologist
My surgery date is set for next Wednesday the 27th, and the Doctors office called me today with some news. At the pre-op testing yesterday they found some abnormality in my EKG. I have an appointment with a cardiologist tomorrow afternoon to see what is going on. So, my surgery may be delayed. Totally bummed out :( Any sugestions on how to get through the next 24 hours? I just want to eat, been on liquids since July 5 (I chose to go onto the liquid diet early). Thanks in advance for your replies.
Hi, I just went through the exact same thing. My surgery was scheduled also for the 27TH and at my P.A.T. they found I had an abnormal EKG.
I went to the cardiologist, they did an echo-cardiogram and I was cleared two days later.
Please put your mind at ease and just make sure you nicely stress to the cardiologist/nurse that you need clearance asap or your surgery date will be postponed.
Best wishes to you and let me know how my fellow 27TH sleever is doing!

Hang in there. I don't have any specific advice, other than to keep your eye on the final prize! Eating anything to soothe this isn't going to help. In fact, it will just make things worse - you might feel guilty, tired, sad, fatter. Just say no to eating your way through this.
Take deep breaths and plan your meals and snacks for the next 24 hours. Then, stay on that plan.
Hugs.

I went through the same thing. Some abnormality in EKG- referred to cardiologist in order to gain clearance. Cardiologist ordered an ECG and stress-test. Luckily, everything was done on site so I didn't have to make another appointment. Cardiologist found that everything was normal and wrote me a script declaring that I was cleared. Primary got the script and FINALLY cleared me for surgery. If not, surgery would have been delayed. Don't fret, it may turn out to be nothing and if it is something sgnificant you will probably just get a stress test to determine just how much your heart can handle. Hugs!
