NORMAL!!!! (I have evidence!)

Today I finally dropped a pound, after being stalled for about 2 months, and now weigh 164 pounds. This means that my body weight now falls in the "normal" range according to the Body Mass Index (BMI). No longer morbidly obese, no longer obese, no longer overweight. WOOT!

The great news for me is I now have low blood pressure, low blood sugars, very low triglycerides, cholesterol in the "healthy"range, body fat in the "healthy" range, body weight in the "normal" range, no more arthritis pain, no more stress incontinence - in short, none of the health problems associated with obesity (save for the arthritic damage already in place at the time of my surgery.) I've been proactive about my supplementation, and about being tested for those vitamins and minerals that are sometimes difficult for WLS patients to absorb - so I have maintained good levels of calcium (as evidenced by bone scan), vitamins B12 and D, and iron.

What this means is that every single health problem that I had pre-op and that could be reversed or improved is now resolved.

And THAT my friends is weight loss surgery success!

Good 4 u!
You look great and what an encouagement for me and others who are travelling this road.
Regarding your nuritional testing ,did you just ask your  own Dr. to do this or did you go to a nutritionist since you had ypur op with Dr Aceves in Mx?  I too am from Bc  going to Mx in 3 wksand very curious how you handled this.

My own doctor does all of the testing - I have been running labs every 6 months (since having them done at a 3-month follow-up here in BC.

Prior to my leaving for Mexico, I let him know what my plan was and made an appointment for him to check my incisions after I returned. I also had him write a prescription for Nexium and filled that before I left.

I did have to educate him a bit about what I needed to be tested for, but he was very much on-board with the whole process, so he pretty much does the labs I request.

Good luck with your surgery! I had a great experience with Dr Aceves and team!

I can't wait to get there. I have 4 lbs to go until I am freakin normal and the scale is moving so slowly. I don't know why I care so much about a chart that is so outdated and inaccurate...but it is what it is!
